Many people believe in superstitions and illusions to the extent that they have become absolute truths and certainties for them, and it is very difficult for you to convince them of their falsehood and that they are just lies they invented and then believed in their minds and accepted as true.
The inability to think and distinguish between ignorance and knowledge, and between right and wrong, is very exhausting for some, so accepting a supernatural explanation that defies reason, logic, and nature is easier than trying to understand it.
Throughout the ages, generations have inherited myths, tales, nonsense, and superstitions, and in our childhood, superstition, in particular, was present, so we grew up believing in it and being forced to accept it without any choice at all, perhaps because of our foolishness or because man (in flesh and blood) is also a pile of superstitions!
For example, the superstition that an itch in the palm of your right hand means you are about to have a meeting of peace, reconciliation, and greeting with someone who is absent or far away whom you haven't seen in a while. If it is in the left hand, you are about to receive or spend a sum of money!
I admit that I may have "gone crazy" because right now I am writing to you with both of my hands itching, in addition to the "drum" of my "damaged" ear, and I don’t know what that means, but just in case, may it be good, O Allah.
There is another superstition related to the position of your shoes; if you find one shoe on top of the other and it has turned in a certain and clear direction, then you are definitely waiting for a trip to that place. Unfortunately, I am writing this while barefoot.
The most widespread superstition is the twitching of the eye; due to stress or fatigue, sometimes the eyelid muscles may experience rapid and involuntary movements. However, some interpret it as a sign that you are about to meet someone you love and hold dear to your heart. I will endorse this particular superstition while singing "My eye twitches and tells me about my dear" and then I will sleep until the hour approaches for the meeting.
The racist superstition that is still widely believed today by the majority is that a black cat is not a cat but a jinn, as they believe it is evil and brings misfortune and bad luck. I see that cats are innocent of this accusation and that some humans are the real jinn, by God.
There is a superstition among women regarding spilling coffee on one of them, which is definitely seen as a good omen. I remember one day I was present at an event, and as they say, I was "on the edge of my seat," and a somewhat crazy friend sat next to me. She jumped as if possessed by a jinn when she heard the "coffee lady" say, "Point to me with the napkin, hey!" and she spilled coffee on me. But I didn’t wait for the good omen and didn’t give her a chance to dance with her napkin and point before I cursed her for ruining my outfit.
Knocking on wood is also one of the most widespread and circulated superstitions among us, as it is believed to ward off the evil eye and envy.
So, if you would be so kind; after you finish reading this (superstitious) article, please knock on wood. I don’t know why, but those who fear are safe, so the one who is in it is enough for them, I mean, please.
