It is right for the global political dictionary to craft a new description that aligns in meaning, resembles in form, and matches a precise understanding of what happened in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the middle of last week during the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Those who consider it an "ordinary" visit in the context of diplomatic relations and protocol arrangements between countries are completely mistaken; it was far beyond that, elevated by the underlying meanings, the obscurities of its messages, and the evidence of its impact radiating in circles after circles, in an unavoidable and inescapable magnetic attraction, covering the local, regional, and global aspects.
Indeed, it was an exceptional visit; what preceded it was a prelude, what was witnessed was a breakthrough, and what it left behind was an icon.
I say this with certainty, not conjecture, and with conviction, not speculation, based on reality, not the writings of a man taken by admiration, who harbors love for his leadership and his country. I have no qualms about expressing this, but when I stood in the position of an insightful observer reflecting on what transpired, I concluded this triplet embodied in the icons of "the prelude," "the breakthrough," and "the icon."
Look at the global reality before the visit, which was tumultuous and disturbed, surrounded by the ominous signs of confrontations, and shaken by the economic decisions announced by Trump. No country was left unscathed; all were calculating their next moves and seeking solutions. Amid this tumultuous scene, the U.S. President decided to visit the Middle East, starting from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Here lies the prelude, and the significance is revealed; the choice was not random, and the priority of the visit was not merely a matter of route or permissible maps in the world of geography. Rather, it was an opening necessitated by the Kingdom's stature and the nobility of its leadership, confident and capable of making a difference as an equal among those who possess power, and the might of those who can.
This was fully recognized by the former American diplomat Alberto Fernandez, who insightfully described the visit as "a clear American acknowledgment of the new leadership role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the region and the world," asserting that it "is no longer just a regional partner but has become a country of global weight in major issues ranging from energy and security to technology and international settlements."
As you reach the core of awareness and the essence of the Kingdom's position regarding what preceded it, and what the priority of the visit implied in Fernandez's statement: "The era of impositions and direct interventions has passed, and the time has come to rely on partners who possess the ability and wisdom to manage complex regional issues."
I suffice with this in the context of "the prelude," as it is rich and points to many evidences that support the political and economic meanings that necessitate starting with the Kingdom for anyone wishing to visit the Middle East and contribute to solving its issues..
As for the context of "the breakthrough," it was manifested in the economic outcomes witnessed during the visit, which will have its visible effects sooner or later, and in the stances that emerged from official frameworks, adorned with friendly traits, and feelings expressed through sincere praise and admiration from the American President in his notable speech at the "Saudi-American Investment Forum." Look at him as he says: "It is a great honor to return to this beautiful Kingdom and to be welcomed again with such exceptional generosity and warmth," and then he goes on to acknowledge the remarkable changes he observed in the reality of the Kingdom in the rhythm of the blessed "Vision," what a testimony from the leader of the world's most powerful nation as he states: "Riyadh is a historic and amazing city, and it is no longer just a governmental place; it has become a hub for technology, innovation, and culture in the world, in addition to hosting the World Cup 2034 and Expo 2030." He reached the peak of praise by saying: "Over the past eight years, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has proven the critics wrong; the transformation witnessed under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in front of the business leaders of the world who stand before us now, has truly been exceptional, and I don't think there is anything like it; I have never seen a transformation of this magnitude."
As for his remarks about the Crown Prince, those testimonies will remain in the memory of history, passed down through generations. What a truthful testimony after he said: "We have wonderful allies in the world, but none are stronger than Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman," and his spontaneous question to the Crown Prince: "Do you sleep at night?" followed by an astonishing description and sincere words: "What a job you have done; I think you toss and turn like most of us at night, thinking about how to improve life in your country... Those who do not sleep are the ones who will take you to the promised land. What a great job you have done."
I have no doubt that Trump, at that moment, needed the wise voice of Al-Mutanabbi to assist him in this context with his verse describing this state:
Everyone wants his men for his life
O one who wants his life for his men
The moment was a "breakthrough" among the historic breakthroughs, and the American President's confidence in the Crown Prince grew, leading to the lifting of all sanctions on sisterly Syria, in a moment that bore the status of "the icon." The Crown Prince clasped his hands over his chest in gratitude, and in just moments, that spontaneous gesture became an icon of joy and a sign of gratitude, spreading among the Syrian people, as everyone emerged clasping their hands over their chests in joy and gratitude, realizing the awareness of a prince who bore the issues of the nation on his shoulders, stayed awake for them, and worked tirelessly to resolve them, arranging the Arab house, the Middle East, and the entire Islamic nation on the paths of peace, security, progress, and prosperity. Thus, the honor of leadership and its meaning is established, and history will remember the deeds of men. Here is "the icon" extending and becoming the talk of the entire world..
There is so much on my mind, crowding my pen, and leaping in my ink to be written down, and I find no letters that express the truth more accurately or depict reality sincerely, as if I stand in the position of Al-Nafri of old, in a state of helplessness, extending his saying: "The broader the vision, the narrower the expression." And I have no qualms about adapting this phrase and substituting the word "vision," my doctrine in specificity for my dear homeland and my wise leadership, which has brought us to the heights of the lofty stars.
So, there is love for it as dictated by principles, and loyalty as is due to the greatness of noble men.
