The Second Criminal Court in Hama, Syria, sentenced the accused of killing pharmacist Ibrahim Bashar Turkawi to death for a crime that occurred inside his pharmacy in the South Al-Mal'ab neighborhood in mid-August last.
The court ruled to execute Ahmad Imad Abdulmajid Daqaq by hanging after convicting him of premeditated murder, according to a statement published by the official page of the Judicial Palace in Hama.
According to the facts of the case, Daqaq fired four bullets from a military pistol at Turkawi's head from close range, resulting in his death.
The issued ruling is not final in the case, as it is subject to the levels of litigation stipulated in Syrian law before it becomes definitive and enforceable.
The details of the crime date back to August 15, 2026, when Daqaq shot Turkawi inside his pharmacy in the South Al-Mal'ab neighborhood of Hama, before security forces managed to arrest him on the same day.
The Criminal Investigation Branch in Hama announced after the crime that the accused had been arrested, indicating that he confessed to committing it, stating during the investigation that the victim knew - according to his testimony - secrets related to his phone. The accused was then referred to the judiciary to complete the legal procedures.
Earlier in September, social media pages circulated a video clip documenting the moment the crime occurred inside the pharmacy. The recording shows the accused approaching Turkawi, who was sitting behind a computer, before aiming the gun at his head and firing, despite the victim's initial attempt to push him away.
