A luxurious vacation in Thailand turned into a tragic nightmare that ended with a shocking demise for the famous British-Nigerian businessman and influencer Igo Obeiribo, known by the nickname "Tiny." After a lavish lifestyle showcasing ostentatious wealth to thousands of followers, the 43-year-old millionaire tragically passed away due to serious complications from a cosmetic procedure performed at an unlicensed clinic in the Thai capital, Bangkok.
In detail, "Tiny" decided to undergo a male cosmetic procedure that involved injecting 40 milliliters of "hyaluronic acid" and "lidocaine." After the session, he and his wife, fashion designer Danielle Simba, headed to their accommodation at the Marriott Hotel for a massage, but things quickly spiraled out of control.
The famous influencer began to complain of sharp and sudden chest pains before losing consciousness twice in front of his wife, prompting an urgent ambulance transfer to Sukhumvit Hospital. Despite his wife's warnings to the doctors about his recent "filler" injections, his health deteriorated rapidly before undergoing CT scans.
An autopsy later conducted in the United Kingdom revealed that the injected materials had catastrophically leaked into his bloodstream, causing him to suffer from acute pulmonary embolism (a clot that blocked blood vessels in the lungs). Despite the medical team's strenuous efforts to resuscitate him for over 100 minutes, he was officially pronounced dead.
"Tiny" was known for his extravagant lifestyle, owning luxurious homes and apartments in Los Angeles and London, in addition to hosting a legendary wedding in Zimbabwe that cost over $470,000.
In a final scene that encapsulated the opulence of his life, the late influencer was laid to rest in the British capital, London, inside a "golden coffin" entirely coated in the precious metal, with media sources estimating its cost at over $745,000, amidst a gathering of stars and celebrities, led by Nigerian music star "Davido."
This tragedy has brought back to the forefront the warnings from cosmetic and urological surgeons about the serious risks associated with injecting hyaluronic acid in sensitive areas, noting that these procedures, which can cost up to $9,000 per session and whose results last only a few months, carry the risks of acute vascular blockage that could lead to immediate death if the materials leak into the bloodstream.
