ارتفعت حصيلة ضحايا السيول والفيضانات المفاجئة التي اجتاحت مناطق على الحدود بين نيبال والتبت إلى ما لا يقل عن 543 قتيلًا، فيما تجاوز عدد المفقودين 1500 شخص، بينهم مئات الأجانب الذين كانوا موجودين في المنطقة للعمل أو للمشاركة في رحلات استكشافية وتسلق الجبال أو لأداء مناسك الحج.
وأسفرت الكارثة عن عمليات إنقاذ واسعة، إذ جرى إنقاذ آلاف الأشخاص، فيما نقل عدد من المصابين إلى مستشفيات في العاصمة النيبالية كاتماندو ومناطق أخرى.
ولا تزال أعداد المفقودين مرشحة للتغير، في ظل استمرار عمليات البحث والإنقاذ، إلى جانب اختلاف آليات جمع البيانات والتحقق منها بين الجهات المعنية.
نيبال.. أكثر من 500 قتيل
أعلنت هيئة إدارة الكوارث في نيبال، الجمعة، ارتفاع عدد القتلى في البلاد إلى 538 شخصًا، فيما بلغ عدد المفقودين 977 شخصًا.
وأوضحت الهيئة أن فرق الإنقاذ تمكنت من إجلاء 3253 شخصًا بواسطة طائرات مروحية، بينما نُقل أكثر من 150 مصابًا إلى مستشفيات في العاصمة كاتماندو ومقاطعات راسووا ونواكوت ودادينغ.
وأفادت تقارير محلية نقلًا عن المركز الوطني لعمليات الطوارئ بأن قائمة المفقودين تضم 113 سائحًا نيباليًا، و85 من أفراد الجيش والشرطة، إضافة إلى 161 من سكان مقاطعة راسووا وشخص واحد من مقاطعة نواكوت.
الصين.. مئات المفقودين في التبت
وفي الجانب الصيني، أفادت وسائل الإعلام الرسمية بمقتل 5 أشخاص على الأقل وفقدان 558 شخصًا في مقاطعة غيرونغ بمنطقة التبت.
وقالت شبكة التلفزيون المركزي الصيني (CCTV) إن 260 شخصًا من بين المفقودين أجانب.
كما أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الصينية أن نحو 100 مواطن صيني ما زالوا في عداد المفقودين على الجانب النيبالي من الحدود.
الهند.. 288 شخصًا خارج نطاق الاتصال
وقالت وزارة الخارجية الهندية إن 288 مواطنًا هنديًا لا يزالون خارج نطاق الاتصال، من بينهم 73 شخصًا كانوا يعملون في مشروع للطاقة.
وأشار مسؤولون نيباليون إلى أن عددًا كبيرًا من السياح الهنود كانوا في المنطقة ضمن رحلات حج إلى جبل كايلاش في التبت، وهو موقع مقدس لدى الهندوس.
الولايات المتحدة.. 90 مواطنًا مفقودًا
أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية أن 90 مواطنًا أمريكيًا لا يزالون في عداد المفقودين في نيبال والصين، مؤكدة أنها لم تتلق معلومات عن وفاة أي أمريكي جراء الكارثة حتى الآن.
وتمكنت فرق الإنقاذ من إنقاذ 3 أمريكيين.
مفقودون من عشرات الدول
امتدت تداعيات الكارثة إلى مواطني دول عديدة، وفق البيانات الرسمية والمعلومات الصادرة عن مجلس السياحة النيبالي، وجاءت الأرقام على النحو التالي:
ماليزيا: 51 مفقودًا.
أوكرانيا: 55 مفقودًا، بينهم مجموعتان سياحيتان تضم الأولى 47 شخصًا والثانية 7 أشخاص، إضافة إلى امرأة أوكرانية كانت تسافر مع مجموعة سياحية أجنبية.
أستراليا: 39 مفقودًا.
بريطانيا: 33 مفقودًا.
كندا: 25 مفقودًا.
كوريا الجنوبية: 9 مواطنين يعملون في مشروع لبناء محطة للطاقة الكهرومائية في نيبال.
سنغافورة: 8 مفقودين.
ألمانيا: 8 سياح مفقودين.
روسيا: 8 مواطنين مفقودين، وفق السفارة الروسية في نيبال.
جنوب أفريقيا: 6 مفقودين.
لاتفيا: 6 سياح مفقودين.
اليابان: 5 سياح مفقودين، وهم زوجان وأطفالهما.
نيوزيلندا: 5 مفقودين.
فرنسا: 4 مواطنين مفقودين.
بلجيكا: 3 مفقودين.
إسبانيا: 3 زوار مفقودين.
كما أفاد مجلس السياحة النيبالي بفقدان شخصين من كل من إيطاليا وكازاخستان والبرتغال وأيرلندا وهولندا.
وأضاف أن هناك 10 مفقودين آخرين، بواقع شخص واحد من كل من بيلاروسا وفنلندا والمجر وإسرائيل وليتوانيا والفلبين وبلغاريا وسويسرا وصربيا والسويد.
عمليات إنقاذ مستمرة
وتواصل فرق الإنقاذ في نيبال والتبت عمليات البحث عن المفقودين، في وقت تتعامل فيه السلطات مع أوضاع إنسانية صعبة نتيجة اتساع نطاق الفيضانات والسيول.
وتعقّد مشاركة عدد كبير من السياح والعمال الأجانب في المنطقة من جهود حصر المفقودين، خصوصًا مع استمرار عمليات الإجلاء والإنقاذ وتحديث قوائم الضحايا والمفقودين من جانب الجهات الحكومية والسفارات والسلطات المحلية.
وتشير البيانات المعلنة إلى أن الحصيلة النهائية للكارثة قد تتغير مع تقدم عمليات البحث والتحقق من هوية المفقودين والعثور على ناجين أو ضحايا جدد.
The death toll from the sudden floods and landslides that swept through areas along the border between Nepal and Tibet has risen to at least 543, while the number of missing persons has exceeded 1,500, including hundreds of foreigners who were in the area for work, to participate in exploratory trips and mountain climbing, or to perform pilgrimage rituals.
The disaster has led to extensive rescue operations, with thousands of people rescued, while several injured individuals were transported to hospitals in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu and other regions.
The number of missing persons is still subject to change, as search and rescue operations continue, alongside differing data collection and verification mechanisms among the concerned authorities.
Nepal.. Over 500 Dead
The Nepal Disaster Management Authority announced on Friday that the death toll in the country has risen to 538, while the number of missing persons has reached 977.
The authority clarified that rescue teams managed to evacuate 3,253 people by helicopter, while more than 150 injured individuals were transported to hospitals in the capital Kathmandu and the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dading.
Local reports from the National Emergency Operations Center indicated that the missing persons list includes 113 Nepali tourists, 85 military and police personnel, in addition to 161 residents of Rasuwa district and one person from Nuwakot district.
China.. Hundreds Missing in Tibet
On the Chinese side, state media reported at least 5 deaths and 558 missing persons in the Gerong County of Tibet.
The China Central Television (CCTV) network stated that 260 of the missing persons are foreigners.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry also announced that around 100 Chinese citizens are still missing on the Nepalese side of the border.
India.. 288 Citizens Unreachable
The Indian Foreign Ministry stated that 288 Indian citizens are still unreachable, including 73 individuals who were working on an energy project.
Nepalese officials noted that a large number of Indian tourists were in the area as part of pilgrimage trips to Mount Kailash in Tibet, a sacred site for Hindus.
United States.. 90 Citizens Missing
The U.S. State Department announced that 90 American citizens are still missing in Nepal and China, confirming that it has not received information about the death of any American due to the disaster so far.
Rescue teams managed to save 3 Americans.
Missing from Dozens of Countries
The repercussions of the disaster have extended to citizens of many countries, according to official data and information released by the Nepal Tourism Board, with the numbers as follows:
Malaysia: 51 missing.
Ukraine: 55 missing, including two tourist groups consisting of 47 and 7 individuals respectively, in addition to a Ukrainian woman traveling with a foreign tourist group.
Australia: 39 missing.
Britain: 33 missing.
Canada: 25 missing.
South Korea: 9 citizens working on a hydroelectric power station project in Nepal.
Singapore: 8 missing.
Germany: 8 tourists missing.
Russia: 8 citizens missing, according to the Russian embassy in Nepal.
South Africa: 6 missing.
Latvia: 6 tourists missing.
Japan: 5 tourists missing, consisting of a couple and their children.
New Zealand: 5 missing.
France: 4 citizens missing.
Belgium: 3 missing.
Spain: 3 visitors missing.
The Nepal Tourism Board also reported the loss of two individuals from each of Italy, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
Additionally, there are 10 other missing persons, with one from each of Belarus, Finland, Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, the Philippines, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Serbia, and Sweden.
Ongoing Rescue Operations
Rescue teams in Nepal and Tibet continue their search for the missing, while authorities are dealing with difficult humanitarian conditions due to the expanding scope of the floods and landslides.
The participation of a large number of tourists and foreign workers in the area complicates efforts to account for the missing, especially with ongoing evacuation and rescue operations and updates to the lists of victims and missing persons from government agencies, embassies, and local authorities.
Announced data indicates that the final toll of the disaster may change as search operations progress and verification of the identities of the missing and the discovery of new survivors or victims continues.
