في ضربة أمنية لملاحقة نهابي التراث، وجهت وزارة الداخلية المصرية لطمة قوية لمافيا التنقيب عن الآثار، عقب إلقاء القبض على تشكيل عصابي خطير مكون من 9 أفراد تخصصوا في سرقة وتهريب التاريخ.
العملية الاستباقية كشفت عن ضبط كنز أثري ضخم بحوزة المتهمين، تمهيداً لبيعه والاتجار به في السوق السوداء.
وأكدت تحريات قطاع شرطة السياحة والآثار المصرية تورط المتهمين المقيمين بمحافظات بالقاهرة والقليوبية والشرقية، في إدارة نشاط إجرامي موسع للحفر والتنقيب غير المشروع.
- مكان النشاط: إحدى المناطق التابعة لمركز شرطة شبين القناطر بمحافظة القليوبية.
- الحصيلة المضبوطة: 118 قطعة يُشتبه في أثريتها النادرة.
- الاعترافات: أقر المتهمون فور مواجهتهم بالحفر وتجميع القطع لبيعها لحسابهم الشخصي.
وقالت السلطات المصرية إنها اتخذت الإجراءات القانونية اللازمة، مع إحالة المضبوطات إلى لجنة علمية من خبراء الآثار للفحص الفني، وتحديد قيمتها التاريخية والحقبة الزمنية التي تعود إليها، تمهيداً لنقلها للمتاحف الرسمية وتأمينها.
In a security operation targeting heritage looters, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior dealt a strong blow to the antiquities excavation mafia, following the arrest of a dangerous gang consisting of 9 individuals who specialized in stealing and smuggling history.
The preemptive operation revealed the seizure of a massive archaeological treasure in the possession of the accused, in preparation for selling and trading it in the black market.
Investigations by the Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Police Sector confirmed the involvement of the accused, residing in the governorates of Cairo, Qalyubia, and Sharqia, in managing an extensive criminal activity of illegal digging and excavation.
- Location of activity: One of the areas under the jurisdiction of the Shabin al-Qanater Police Station in Qalyubia Governorate.
- Seized items: 118 pieces suspected to be rare antiquities.
- Confessions: The accused admitted immediately when confronted with the digging and collection of the pieces for personal sale.
The Egyptian authorities stated that they have taken the necessary legal measures, referring the seized items to a scientific committee of antiquities experts for technical examination, to determine their historical value and the time period they belong to, in preparation for transferring them to official museums and securing them.
