في تصريحات حبست أنفاس المتابعين لعلوم الفضاء، عاد كابوس «فناء البشرية» إلى الواجهة مجدداً، بعدما حذر أومبرتو كامبينس خبير الكويكبات في وكالة الفضاء الأمريكية «ناسا»، من أن اصطدام كويكب ضخم بكوكب الأرض ومحو كل ما بناه الإنسان هو سيناريو حتمي في تاريخ النظام الشمسي!
المسؤول البارز أوضح على هامش مؤتمر «The Many Pathways to Space» بإسبانيا، أن أحداث الانقراض الجماعي بكرة نارية قادمة من الفضاء (على غرار ما حدث للديناصورات قبل ملايين السنين) «ستتكرر حتماً»، مطالباً البشرية بالاستعداد لضمان بقائها، رغم كونه مطمئناً أن الخطر المباشر معدوم خلال حياة الجيل الحالي.

لم تتوقف المفاجآت عند حدود التحذير المرعب، إذ فجّر خبير «ناسا» تفاصيل مثيرة حول عام 2029 والفرص المذهلة المخبأة في أعماق الفضاء:
