أدى تسرب كيميائي داخل مصنع للأدوية في المنطقة الصناعية كاديشور-باديالا بمنطقة يادجير في ولاية كارناتاكا الهندية، اليوم، إلى مقتل ثلاثة عمال وإصابة اثنين آخرين.
وأوضحت الشرطة الهندية أن المؤشرات الأولية تشير إلى وقوع تسرب داخل المصنع في وقت مبكر من صباح اليوم، ما تسبب في اختناق العمال الذين كانوا على رأس العمل، مشيرة إلى نقل المصابين إلى المستشفى لتلقي العلاج.
وذكرت صحيفة «إنديان إكسبريس» الهندية، نقلاً عن نائب مفوض منطقة يادجير باندفي راهول توكارام، أن التحقيقات الأولية أظهرت أن العمال تعرضوا لغاز ثاني أكسيد الكبريت، بعد حدوث تسرب في خط أنابيب ينقل الغاز إلى وحدة معالجة داخل المصنع.
وأضافت الصحيفة أن الحادثة وقعت بين الساعة الواحدة والثانية فجراً، وأن العمال الخمسة نُقلوا إلى معهد رايشور للعلوم الطبية، إذ أُعلنت وفاة ثلاثة منهم، فيما يتلقى المصابان الآخران العلاج، وحالة أحدهما حرجة.
وأشارت إلى أن الشرطة سجلت قضية ضد الشركة ومديرها ومسؤولين آخرين، فيما تم الدفع بفريق من القوة الوطنية للاستجابة للكوارث وفريق للأدلة الجنائية لتحديد السبب الدقيق للحادثة والكشف عن أي أوجه قصور فنية محتملة.
A chemical leak inside a pharmaceutical factory in the Kadireshur-Badiyal industrial area of the Yadgir district in Karnataka, India, today resulted in the death of three workers and injured two others.
The Indian police explained that initial indicators suggest that the leak occurred inside the factory early this morning, causing the workers who were on duty to suffocate, noting that the injured were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The Indian newspaper "Indian Express," quoting the Deputy Commissioner of the Yadgir district, Bandvi Rahul Tokaram, reported that initial investigations revealed that the workers were exposed to sulfur dioxide gas after a leak occurred in a pipeline transporting gas to a processing unit within the factory.
The newspaper added that the incident took place between one and two in the morning, and the five workers were taken to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences, where the death of three of them was announced, while the other two injured are receiving treatment, with one of them in critical condition.
It was noted that the police have filed a case against the company, its manager, and other officials, while a team from the National Disaster Response Force and a forensic team have been deployed to determine the exact cause of the incident and uncover any potential technical shortcomings.
