اكتشف خبراء إزالة الذخائر في فرنسا العشرات من قذائف الحرب العالمية الثانية في منطقة اجتاحها حريق غابات ضخم على الساحل الأطلسي للبلاد.
وقال رئيس إدارة إزالة الذخائر المتفجرة في بوردو فيليب ديليموت، اليوم: «كنا في مهمة الأسبوع الماضي وعثرنا على هذا الحقل، حيث أزلنا 75 قذيفة»، مشيراً إلى العثور أيضاً على المزيد من القذائف المشابهة بعد أن خفّت حدة حرارة الحقل.
وسُمع دوي الانفجارات في قرية لو بورج بينما كان أكبر حريق غابات في فرنسا لهذا الفصل من العام يجتاح المنطقة، ما أدى إلى اكتشاف هذه القذائف، التي كان يُعتقد منذ البداية أنها مخبأ للذخائر تركته القوات الألمانية وراءها.
Explosive ordnance disposal experts in France have discovered dozens of World War II shells in an area ravaged by a massive wildfire on the country's Atlantic coast.
Bordeaux's explosive ordnance disposal chief, Philippe Delimot, said today: "We were on a mission last week and found this field, where we removed 75 shells," noting that more similar shells were found after the heat of the field subsided.
The sound of explosions was heard in the village of Le Bourge as the largest wildfire in France for this season swept through the area, leading to the discovery of these shells, which were initially believed to be a cache of munitions left behind by German forces.
