تحولت مغامرة صُممت لجذب ملايين المشاهدات على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي إلى تجربة مرعبة، بعدما كادت عارضة الأزياء سيسي روز أن تفقد حياتها خلال مشاركتها في تحدٍّ استُخدمت فيه كطُعم بشري لاستدراج أسماك القرش.
وخلال التحدي، رُبطت سيسي بحبل وثُبتت عليها أسماك ميتة قبل إنزالها إلى المياه بالقرب من أحد الموانئ، في محاولة لاستقطاب أسماك القرش وتصوير التجربة. إلا أن الأمور خرجت عن السيطرة بعدما انجرفت إلى أسفل الماء وبدا أنها تكافح للبقاء على قيد الحياة.
ووثق المؤثر وصانع المحتوى أنتوني داوسون، تفاصيل التحدي في مقطع فيديو نشره عبر حساباته، حيث ظهرت سيسي وهي تُسحب إلى عمق المياه بينما كان داوسون قد ابتعد عنها للحظات، ما زاد من خطورة الموقف.
وقالت سيسي إنها شعرت وكأنها بقيت تحت الماء لنحو دقيقتين وهي تستغيث طلباً للمساعدة، قبل أن تشير إلى أن المدة الفعلية ربما كانت أقل مما بدت عليه أثناء الحادث.
وفي تصريحات لصحيفة «ديلي ميل»، أوضحت أنها كانت تشعر بالخوف قبل بدء المغامرة، لكنها هدأت بمجرد دخولها الماء، معتقدة أن أسماك القرش ستنجذب إلى الطُعم الميت بدلاً منها. وأضافت أنها كانت تستند إلى قناعة بعدم وجود أسماك قرش بيضاء كبيرة في تلك المنطقة.
وبعد إنقاذها، أقر داوسون أمام الكاميرا بأن استخدام طُعم أصغر كان سيكون خياراً أفضل، واصفاً ما حدث بأنه «كارثة بكل معنى الكلمة».
وسارعت سيسي لاحقاً إلى طمأنة متابعيها، مؤكدة أنها لم تُصب بأي أذى، وكتبت: «أنا بخير، أعدكم». واختُتم الفيديو بمشهد لرجلين يلتقطان صورة مع سمكة قرش صغيرة قبل إطلاقها مجدداً في المياه، فيما تجاوزت مشاهدات المقطع 10.6 مليون مشاهدة.
A venture designed to attract millions of views on social media turned into a terrifying experience, as model Sisi Rose nearly lost her life during a challenge where she was used as human bait to lure sharks.
During the challenge, Sisi was tied with a rope and dead fish were attached to her before being lowered into the water near one of the ports, in an attempt to attract sharks and film the experience. However, things spiraled out of control when she drifted underwater and appeared to struggle to stay alive.
Influencer and content creator Anthony Dawson documented the details of the challenge in a video he posted across his accounts, where Sisi was seen being pulled into the depths of the water while Dawson had stepped away from her for a moment, increasing the danger of the situation.
Sisi stated that she felt as if she had been underwater for about two minutes while calling for help, before noting that the actual duration might have been shorter than it seemed during the incident.
In statements to the Daily Mail, she explained that she felt scared before the adventure began, but calmed down once she entered the water, believing that the sharks would be attracted to the dead bait instead of her. She added that she was relying on the conviction that there were no large great white sharks in that area.
After her rescue, Dawson admitted on camera that using smaller bait would have been a better option, describing what happened as a "disaster in every sense of the word."
Sisi later rushed to reassure her followers, confirming that she was unharmed, and wrote: "I’m fine, I promise you." The video concluded with a scene of two men taking a picture with a small shark before releasing it back into the water, while the clip surpassed 10.6 million views.
