في ليلةٍ خيم فيها الصمت على أروقة مجمع السويس الطبي، تحوّلت القصة الإنسانية إلى مشهدٍ أبكى الجميع. فقد شهد المستشفى واقعةً قلّ نظيرها، إذ أنهى الموت حياة زوجين بفاصل زمني لا يتجاوز دقائق معدودة، في مشهدٍ جسّد معنى الوفاء والتعلق حتى اللحظة الأخيرة.
بدأت فصول المأساة مع نقل الزوج محمود محمود عبده (في العقد الرابع من عمره) إلى المستشفى إثر تدهور حاد في حالته الصحية بعد صراعٍ طويل مع مرض السرطان. ورغم كل المحاولات الطبية لإنقاذه، إلا أن روحه فاضت إلى بارئها فور الوصول.
لكن ما حدث بعد ذلك لم يكن في الحسبان، فبمجرد تلقي الزوجة خبر وفاة شريك عمرها داخل المجمع الطبي، لم يتحمل قلبها هول الصدمة، لتدخل في حالة انهيار عصبي حاد انتهى بهبوطٍ سريعٍ في الدورة الدموية، لتلحق بزوجها في رحلته الأخيرة قبل أن تبرد دموعها.
وعبّر أهالي منطقة «الأمل» بالسويس (حيث كان يقيم الزوجان) عن صدمتهم الكبيرة بفقدهما. فالجيران الذين اعتادوا رؤية الزوجين نموذجاً للانسجام والهدوء، أكدوا أن العلاقة بينهما كانت استثنائية، وكأن القدر أراد ألا يفرق بينهما حتى في لحظة الموت.
وأعادت هذه الواقعة المؤلمة فتح ملف «متلازمة القلب المكسور» أو «موت الحزن»، إذ يؤكد الأطباء أن الصدمات العاطفية العنيفة يمكن أن تؤدي إلى خللٍ مفاجئ في وظائف الجسم، بما في ذلك عضلة القلب، مما يثبت أن الروابط الإنسانية قد تكون أعمق مما نتخيل، وأحياناً أكثر قوة من القدرة على البقاء.
On a night when silence enveloped the halls of the Suez Medical Complex, the human story transformed into a scene that brought tears to everyone’s eyes. The hospital witnessed an incident rarely seen, as death claimed the lives of a couple within a time span of just a few minutes, in a scene that embodied the meaning of loyalty and attachment until the very last moment.
The chapters of tragedy began with the transfer of the husband, Mahmoud Mahmoud Abdu (in his forties), to the hospital following a severe deterioration in his health after a long battle with cancer. Despite all medical attempts to save him, his soul departed to its Creator upon arrival.
However, what happened next was unforeseen. As soon as the wife received the news of her lifelong partner's death within the medical complex, her heart could not bear the shock, leading her into a state of acute nervous breakdown that resulted in a rapid drop in blood circulation, causing her to follow her husband on his final journey before her tears could dry.
The residents of the "Hope" area in Suez (where the couple lived) expressed their profound shock at their loss. Neighbors who were accustomed to seeing the couple as a model of harmony and tranquility confirmed that their relationship was exceptional, as if fate intended not to separate them even in the moment of death.
This painful incident reopened the file on "broken heart syndrome" or "grief-induced death," as doctors affirm that intense emotional shocks can lead to sudden dysfunction in body functions, including the heart muscle, proving that human bonds can be deeper than we imagine, and sometimes stronger than the will to survive.
