تعتزم منصة (X) إيقاف ميزة (المجتمعات Communities) نهائياً بحلول نهاية مايو القادم؛ وفق ما كشفه رئيس المنتجات في المنصة، نيكيتا بير، وذلك في إطار توجّه المنصة نحو أدوات تفاعل مختلفة.
وتُعد «المجتمعات Communities» من المزايا التي أُطلقت قبل استحواذ إيلون ماسك على «تويتر» وإعادة تسميته إلى «إكس»، إذ أتاحت للمستخدمين إنشاء مجموعات عامة والانضمام إليها وإدارتها وفق اهتمامات محددة، مع إمكانية متابعة محتوى مُحدد ضمن موجز منفصل، بنحو يشبه قسم المجموعات في «فيسبوك».
وأوضح بير أن الميزة لم تحقق الانتشار المطلوب، إذ لم يستخدمها سوى أقل من 0.4% من المستخدمين، مع تسجيلها نحو 80% من بلاغات الرسائل المزعجة وعمليات الاحتيال المالي والبرمجيات الخبيثة في المنصة.
ومن جهة أخرى، تطرح (X) تطبيق المحادثات XChat كبديل مباشر، إذ يدعم حالياً إجراء محادثات جماعية تصل إلى 350 عضواً، مع خطط لرفع أقصى حد إلى 1000 عضو لاحقاً، وتتيح إكس الآن للمشرفين تثبيت روابط داخل المجتمعات الحالية لتسهيل انتقال الأعضاء إلى المحادثات الجماعية قبل الإغلاق النهائي في 30 مايو.
The (X) platform intends to permanently shut down the (Communities) feature by the end of next May, as revealed by the platform's head of products, Nikita Bir, as part of the platform's shift towards different interaction tools.
The "Communities" feature was launched before Elon Musk's acquisition of "Twitter" and its rebranding to "X." It allowed users to create, join, and manage public groups based on specific interests, with the ability to follow specific content within a separate feed, similar to the groups section on "Facebook."
Bir explained that the feature did not achieve the desired popularity, as it was used by less than 0.4% of users, accounting for about 80% of reports of spam messages, financial fraud, and malware on the platform.
On the other hand, (X) is introducing the XChat messaging app as a direct alternative, currently supporting group chats of up to 350 members, with plans to increase the limit to 1,000 members later. X is now allowing moderators to pin links within the existing communities to facilitate members' transition to group chats before the final shutdown on May 30.
