تحوّل تجمع مدني كان يُفترض أن يكون مناسبة للفرح إلى واحد من أكثر الحوادث دموية، بعد قصف بطائرة مسيّرة استهدف مدينة كتم غربي السودان، مخلفاً عشرات القتلى والجرحى، بينهم نساء وأطفال.
وبحسب مصادر طبية وشهود عيان، وقع الهجوم مساء 8 أبريل في حي السلامة السكني، بالقرب من مدرسة الأم للبنات، أثناء تجمع لمناسبة زفاف، قبل أن يتحول المكان خلال لحظات إلى ساحة دمار واسع.
وأفادت غرفة طوارئ محلية في كتم بأن القصف الذي قالت إنه نُفذ بطائرة مسيّرة أسفر عن مقتل 58 مدنياً، من بينهم 17 طفلاً، إضافة إلى عشرات الجرحى، بعضهم في حالات حرجة.
وفي السياق ذاته، ذكر سكان محليون أنه تم حتى مساء الجمعة دفن 37 جثة من ضحايا الهجوم، وسط أجواء من الحزن والصدمة التي خيمت على المنطقة.
كما أشارت مصادر محلية إلى أن عدداً من الجثث كان متفحماً أو يحمل آثار حروق بالغة، فيما لا يزال أكثر من 10 أشخاص في عداد المفقودين حتى الآن، ما يثير مخاوف من ارتفاع الحصيلة.
وأضافت المصادر أن نحو 50 مصاباً آخرين يعانون من إصابات متفاوتة الخطورة، في ظل صعوبات كبيرة تواجه عمليات الإسعاف، بسبب استمرار التحليق والقصف بالطائرات المسيّرة حتى ساعات متأخرة من الليل، ما أعاق وصول المساعدات الطبية إلى الموقع.
A civil gathering that was supposed to be a joyous occasion turned into one of the bloodiest incidents, following a drone strike that targeted the city of Kutum in western Sudan, leaving dozens dead and injured, including women and children.
According to medical sources and eyewitnesses, the attack occurred on the evening of April 8 in the Al-Salam residential neighborhood, near the Al-Um School for Girls, during a wedding gathering, before the place turned into a scene of widespread destruction within moments.
A local emergency room in Kutum reported that the shelling, which it said was carried out by a drone, resulted in the deaths of 58 civilians, including 17 children, in addition to dozens of injured, some of whom are in critical condition.
In the same context, local residents mentioned that by Friday evening, 37 bodies of the attack's victims had been buried, amid an atmosphere of grief and shock that enveloped the area.
Local sources also indicated that several bodies were charred or showed signs of severe burns, while more than 10 people are still missing, raising fears of an increased toll.
The sources added that about 50 other injured individuals are suffering from varying degrees of injuries, amid significant difficulties facing rescue operations due to the continued drone flights and shelling until late at night, which hindered the arrival of medical assistance to the site.
