تتصاعد الأزمة في النيجر بعد الهجوم الذي استهدف مطار نيامي الدولي الأربعاء، حيث وجه الحاكم العسكري عبد الرحمن تياني اتهامات صريحة لفرنسا وبنين وساحل العاج بدعم العملية، متوعدًا برد قوي قد يغير وجه العلاقات في المنطقة.
وقال تياني في تصريحات للتلفزيون الحكومي بعد تفقده القاعدة الجوية: «سمعناهم ينبحون، وعليهم أن يتأهبوا لسماع زئيرنا»، في إشارة إلى إمكانية تصعيد عسكري ودبلوماسي. وأشار الحاكم العسكري إلى أن الهجوم استهدف البنية العسكرية للمطار، مقدمًا شكر القوات الروسية الموجودة على الأرض لـ«الدفاع عن قطاعهم».
ورغم التهديدات، لم تقدم النيجر أي أدلة تثبت تورط فرنسا أو بنين أو ساحل العاج، فيما لم تتسن بعد ردود من هذه الدول الثلاث.
من جهتها، أشارت السلطات إلى أن مخزون اليورانيوم في المطار لم يتأثر بالهجوم، بعد نقله مؤخرًا من منجم سومير إلى قاعدة نيامي للتصدير. وذكرت شركتا طيران محليتان تعرض طائراتهما لأضرار طفيفة دون إصابات بين الركاب أو الطاقم، حيث وقعت الحادثة خارج ساعات العمل.
وتشير الأنباء إلى أن الهجوم أسفر عن مقتل أحد المهاجمين الذي يُعتقد أنه فرنسي الجنسية، بينما أكدت مصادر أمنية وصف الواقعة بأنها «هجوم إرهابي»، مشيرة إلى تعزيز الإجراءات الأمنية حول المطار.
ومع انتشار صور فضائية تظهر القصف والانفجارات في مطار ديوري هاماني الدولي، تتجه الأنظار إلى النيجر، وسط مخاوف من تصعيد التوتر بين الحاكم العسكري في نيامي والقوى الغربية والأفريقية المحيطة.
The crisis in Niger is escalating following the attack that targeted Niamey International Airport on Wednesday, as military governor Abdrahmane Tiani made explicit accusations against France, Benin, and Ivory Coast for supporting the operation, threatening a strong response that could change the dynamics of relations in the region.
Tiani stated in remarks to state television after inspecting the airbase: “We heard them barking, and they should prepare to hear our roar,” referring to the possibility of military and diplomatic escalation. The military governor indicated that the attack targeted the military infrastructure of the airport, expressing gratitude to the Russian forces on the ground for “defending their sector.”
Despite the threats, Niger has not provided any evidence to prove the involvement of France, Benin, or Ivory Coast, and responses from these three countries have not yet been obtained.
For their part, the authorities indicated that the uranium stockpile at the airport was not affected by the attack, having recently been transferred from the Somair mine to the Niamey base for export. Two local airlines reported that their aircraft sustained minor damage with no injuries among passengers or crew, as the incident occurred outside working hours.
Reports indicate that the attack resulted in the death of one of the attackers, who is believed to be of French nationality, while security sources described the incident as an “terrorist attack,” noting the reinforcement of security measures around the airport.
As satellite images show the bombing and explosions at Diori Hamani International Airport, attention is turning to Niger, amid fears of escalating tensions between the military governor in Niamey and the surrounding Western and African powers.
