في خطوة تعكس تحوّلاً لافتاً في هيكلها القيادي، أعلنت شركة «ميتا» المالكة لمنصات فيسبوك وإنستغرام وواتساب، تعيين دينا باول ماكورميك رئيسةً للشركة ونائبةً لرئيس مجلس الإدارة، في سابقة تُسجَّل لأول مرة منذ تأسيس الشركة الأمريكية العملاقة.
ويأتي استحداث منصب «رئيس الشركة» ضمن إعادة تنظيم هرم القيادة داخل «ميتا»، إذ لم يكن هذا المنصب قائماً من قبل، لتصبح باول أول من يتولاه، بينما يواصل المؤسس مارك زوكربيرغ مهامه رئيساً تنفيذياً ورئيساً لمجلس الإدارة.

ترحيب سياسي ودعم من زوكربيرغ
وحظي التعيين بتفاعل سياسي لافت، إذ هنّأ الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب دينا باول عبر منصة «تروث سوشيال»، واصفاً الخطوة بأنها «اختيار موفق»، ومشيداً بخبرتها وأدائها خلال فترة عملها في إدارته.
من جهته، أكد مارك زوكربيرغ أن باول تمتلك خبرة عميقة في التمويل العالمي، إلى جانب شبكة علاقات دولية واسعة، ما يؤهلها للعب دور محوري في توسيع الشراكات السيادية مع الحكومات، ودعم استثمارات «ميتا» المتسارعة في مجال الذكاء الاصطناعي.
كما تلقت باول تهنئة خاصة من زوجها، السيناتور الجمهوري ديف ماكورميك، الذي فاز بعضوية مجلس الشيوخ عن ولاية بنسلفانيا في انتخابات عام 2024.

وتُعد «ميتا» من أكبر شركات التكنولوجيا متعددة الجنسيات في العالم، ويقع مقرها الرئيسي في ولاية كاليفورنيا الأمريكية. ويقترب عدد مستخدمي تطبيقاتها من أربعة مليارات مستخدم نشط شهرياً، فيما تجاوزت إيراداتها 164.5 مليار دولار خلال عام 2024، ويعمل لديها نحو 74 ألف موظف في عشرات الدول.

جذور مصرية ومسيرة استثنائية
دينا باول، التي كان اسمها قبل الزواج دينا حبيب، مصرية الأصل، وُلدت في القاهرة عام 1973، قبل أن تهاجر مع أسرتها إلى الولايات المتحدة عام 1977 وهي في الرابعة من عمرها، حيث استقرت العائلة في مدينة دالاس بولاية تكساس.
نشأت باول في أسرة متواضعة؛ فوالدها كان يعمل سائق حافلة، فيما أدارت والدتها معه متجر بقالة. وهناك بدأت دينا مسيرتها التعليمية، قبل أن تحصل لاحقاً على درجة البكالوريوس من جامعة تكساس في أوستن.
من السياسة إلى البيت الأبيض
بدأت باول حياتها المهنية في العمل السياسي بولاية تكساس، حيث التحقت ببرنامج تدريبي في مكتب السيناتورة الجمهورية كاي بيلي هاتشيسون. وفي عام 2003، انضمت إلى إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي السابق جورج دبليو بوش، لتصبح أصغر مساعد رئاسي في البيت الأبيض بعمر 29 عاماً.
وشغلت لاحقاً مناصب بارزة في وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية، من بينها مساعدة وزيرة الخارجية كوندوليزا رايس للشؤون التعليمية والثقافية، ثم نائب وكيل وزارة الشؤون العامة والدبلوماسية العامة عام 2005، وقد وصفتها رايس لاحقاً بأنها «واحدة من أكفأ الشخصيات» التي عملت معها.

نجاح في عالم المال والأعمال
في عام 2007، انتقلت باول إلى القطاع المالي بانضمامها إلى مؤسسة «غولدمان ساكس»، حيث تدرجت في المناصب حتى تولت رئاسة قسم الاستثمار الاجتماعي عام 2010.
وأشرفت خلال تلك الفترة على برامج استثمارية وخيرية بمليارات الدولارات، شملت مبادرات للإسكان وتنمية المجتمعات، إضافة إلى برامج عالمية لتمكين النساء، من أبرزها مبادرتا «10 آلاف امرأة» و«مليون امرأة سوداء»، اللتان كان لهما أثر واسع على رائدات الأعمال حول العالم.
كما شغلت لاحقاً منصب رئيس قسم خدمات العملاء العالمية في بنك الاستثمار BDT & MSD Partners، إلى جانب عضويتها في مجالس إدارات عدد من الشركات الكبرى، من بينها شركة «إكسون موبيل».
العودة إلى السياسة في عهد ترمب
في يناير 2017، عيّنتها إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب مستشارة للمبادرات والنمو الاقتصادي، قبل أن تتولى لاحقاً منصب نائب مستشار الأمن القومي.
وقالت مصادر لهيئة الإذاعة البريطانية (BBC) آنذاك إن باول كانت من المقربين لابنة الرئيس إيفانكا ترمب، وأسهمت في دعم مبادرات تتعلق بقضايا المرأة، مثل المساواة في الأجور وإجازات رعاية الأسرة مدفوعة الأجر. كما وصفتها شبكة «سي إن إن» بأنها حلقة الوصل بين إدارة ترمب والنساء في القضايا الاجتماعية الحساسة.
وفي ديسمبر 2017، أعلن البيت الأبيض عزم باول الاستقالة مطلع عام 2018، بعد أقل من عام على توليها المنصب، وذلك عقب الجدل الذي أثاره قرار الاعتراف بالقدس عاصمة لإسرائيل، رغم تأكيد الإدارة الأمريكية أن قرار الاستقالة كان مخططاً له مسبقاً.

The appointment received notable political interaction, as U.S. President Donald Trump congratulated Dina Powell via the "Truth Social" platform, describing the move as a "wise choice" and praising her experience and performance during her time in his administration.
For his part, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that Powell possesses deep expertise in global finance, along with a wide international network, qualifying her to play a pivotal role in expanding sovereign partnerships with governments and supporting Meta's accelerating investments in artificial intelligence.
Powell also received special congratulations from her husband, Republican Senator Dave McCormick, who won a Senate seat from Pennsylvania in the 2024 elections.

Egyptian Roots and an Exceptional Journey
Dina Powell, formerly known as Dina Habib before her marriage, is of Egyptian origin, born in Cairo in 1973, before migrating with her family to the United States in 1977 when she was four years old, settling in Dallas, Texas.
Powell grew up in a modest family; her father worked as a bus driver, while her mother ran a grocery store with him. It was there that Dina began her educational journey, later earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
From Politics to the White House
Powell began her professional life in political work in Texas, where she joined a training program in the office of Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. In 2003, she joined the administration of former U.S. President George W. Bush, becoming the youngest presidential assistant in the White House at the age of 29.
She later held prominent positions in the U.S. Department of State, including Assistant Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for Educational and Cultural Affairs, and then Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy in 2005, with Rice later describing her as "one of the most competent individuals" she worked with.

Success in the World of Finance and Business
In 2007, Powell transitioned to the financial sector by joining Goldman Sachs, where she rose through the ranks to become head of the social investment division in 2010.
During that time, she oversaw investment and charitable programs worth billions of dollars, including initiatives for housing and community development, as well as global programs for women's empowerment, notably the "10,000 Women" and "One Million Black Women" initiatives, which had a wide impact on female entrepreneurs around the world.
She also later served as the head of global client services at BDT & MSD Partners investment bank, in addition to being a board member of several major companies, including ExxonMobil.
Returning to Politics During Trump’s Era
In January 2017, the Trump administration appointed her as a counselor for initiatives and economic growth, before later taking on the role of Deputy National Security Advisor.
Sources told the BBC at the time that Powell was close to the president's daughter, Ivanka Trump, and contributed to supporting initiatives related to women's issues, such as pay equity and paid family leave. CNN described her as the link between the Trump administration and women on sensitive social issues.
In December 2017, the White House announced Powell's intention to resign at the beginning of 2018, less than a year after assuming the position, following the controversy surrounding the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, although the U.S. administration confirmed that the decision to resign had been planned in advance.
