أنهت السلطات البريطانية رحلة هروب دولية استمرت 14 عاماً بإيداع دنكان هيرد السجن فور تسليمه من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. وأصدرت محكمة «بول» الجزئية حكماً بحبسه لمدة 20 أسبوعاً، بعد إدانته بالبقاء هارباً بشكل غير قانوني منذ 2012، عقب اختفائه بعد استدعائه لخرق شروط الإفراج المشروط في قضية اختلاس كبرى.
جذور القضية
تعود القضية إلى 2010، حين حُكم على هيرد بالسجن بتهمة الاستيلاء على 70 ألف جنيه إسترليني من ضحايا متعدّدين، عبر إيهامهم بالاستثمار في عقارات وأراضٍ ودول أخرى، وبيع يخوت وهمية. ومن أبرز ضحاياه وسيط يخوت مسن وعائلة من نورفولك دفعوا 21 ألف جنيه إسترليني بعد وعده الكاذب بتمويل مشروع تطوير عقاري ضخم.
عملية القبض والتسليم
أكدت شرطة دورست أن القبض على هيرد في الولايات المتحدة وتسليمه عبر مطار هيثرو جاء بعد جهود مكثفة لتحديد مكانه، مشددة على أن القضية تُرسل رسالة واضحة: العدالة ستلاحق الفارين مهما طال الزمن.
مسيرة هروب طويلة
يُذكر أن دنكان هيرد اعتاد الفرار منذ بدايات نشاطه الإجرامي، إذ هرب سابقاً إلى فرنسا قبل القبض عليه، واستمر في التنقل بين القارات لأكثر من عقد من الزمن قبل أن يسقط أخيراً.

The case dates back to 2010 when Heard was sentenced to prison for embezzling £70,000 from multiple victims by misleading them into investing in properties, land, and other countries, as well as selling fictitious yachts. Among his most notable victims were an elderly yacht broker and a family from Norfolk who paid £21,000 after his false promise to fund a massive real estate development project.

Dorset Police confirmed that Heard's arrest in the United States and his extradition via Heathrow Airport came after intensive efforts to locate him, emphasizing that the case sends a clear message: justice will pursue fugitives no matter how long it takes.
A Long Escape Journey
It is noted that Duncan Heard had been on the run since the early days of his criminal activity, having previously fled to France before being apprehended, and continued to move between continents for over a decade before finally being caught.
