تفاجأت رئيسة المكسيك كلاوديا شينباوم خلال أول مؤتمر صحفي لها في العام الجديد، حين دوت صفارات الإنذار بشكل مفاجئ، مع اهتزاز الأرض تحت قدميها، ما أثار حالة من الرعب بين الصحفيين والجمهور.
وبهدوء، بادرت شينباوم بإخلاء القاعة برفقة الصحفيين قبل استئناف المؤتمر بعد دقائق، مؤكدة عبر منصة «إكس» أنها تواصلت مع حاكم ولاية جيريرو، ولم تُسجل أي تقارير فورية عن أضرار جسيمة في الولاية أو العاصمة مكسيكو سيتي.
وأعلنت «هيئة المسح الجيولوجي» الأمريكية أن زلزالاً بلغت قوته 6.3 درجة ضرب منطقة قريبة من ساحل المحيط الهادئ في ولاية جيريرو، على عمق 35 كيلومتراً، فيما سجلت «هيئة رصد الزلازل» في المكسيك 420 هزة ارتدادية حتى ظهر أمس (الجمعة) كان أقواها بقوة 4.7 درجة.
وأسفر الزلزال عن انهيارات أرضية على طرق سريعة، وتسريبات غاز، وتضرر منازل ومبانٍ عامة ومستشفيات في الولاية. كما أظهرت مقاطع مصورة اهتزاز مبانٍ شاهقة وتشققات في منازل وسقوط إشارة مرور في مكسيكو سيتي، بينما لم تُسجل أضرار جسيمة.
وأفادت «هيئة الطيران المدني» بتعرض مطاريْ مكسيكو سيتي وأكابولكو الدوليين لأضرار طفيفة لم تؤثر على سير العمليات، في حين لقي رجل يبلغ من العمر 67 عاماً مصرعه أثناء نزوله الدرج لإخلاء شقته في العاصمة.

Calmly, Sheinbaum began evacuating the hall along with the journalists before resuming the conference after a few minutes, confirming via the "X" platform that she had contacted the governor of Guerrero state, and no immediate reports of significant damage had been recorded in the state or the capital, Mexico City.
The U.S. Geological Survey announced that a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck an area near the Pacific coast in Guerrero state, at a depth of 35 kilometers, while Mexico's seismic monitoring agency recorded 420 aftershocks by yesterday afternoon (Friday), the strongest of which was 4.7 magnitude.
The earthquake resulted in landslides on highways, gas leaks, and damage to homes, public buildings, and hospitals in the state. Video footage showed tall buildings shaking, cracks in homes, and a traffic signal falling in Mexico City, although no significant damage was reported.
The Civil Aviation Authority reported that the international airports in Mexico City and Acapulco sustained minor damage that did not affect operations, while a 67-year-old man lost his life while descending the stairs to evacuate his apartment in the capital.
