دعا حاكم محافظة في شمال اليابان الجيش للتدخل لمواجهة موجة «مروعة جداً» من هجمات الدببة أودت بحياة عدد من الأشخاص في مختلف أنحاء البلاد.
وبحسب الحكومة اليابانية، قُتل 10 أشخاص بهجمات دببة هذا العام، وهو معدّل يتجاوز الرقم القياسي السابق البالغ 6 أشخاص المُسجّل بين أبريل 2023 ومارس 2024.
وقال حاكم محافظة أكيتا كينتا سوزوكي، خلال اجتماع مع وزير الدفاع في طوكيو «نحن حالياً في وضع لا يمكن فيه حماية أرواح مواطنينا من دون مساعدة قوات الدفاع الذاتي».
وأضاف: «الهجمات التي تستهدف الرقبة والوجه شائعة جداً، وتؤدي إلى إصابات خطرة للغاية»، مشيراً إلى أنّ ظهور الدببة لم يعد محصوراً في الجبال فقط، بل بات في المناطق المدنية أيضاً.
وأشار إلى أنه من «غير الطبيعي» أن تتعطل الحياة اليومية للسكان.
وأكد وزير الدفاع الجديد شينجيرو كويزومي، أن وزارته «ستستغل كامل قدراتها وصلاحياتها» لاستعادة الأمن والطمأنينة، في حين وصف وزير البيئة هيروتاكا إيشيهارا، الوضع بأنه «مشكلة خطيرة».
ولا يشمل عدد القتلى هذا الأشخاص الذين قتُلوا في هجمات دببة في الآونة الأخيرة.
وعُثر الإثنين الماضي على جثة امرأة بالقرب من حقول الأرز في أكيتا، في حين عُثر على جثة رجل وجيفة كلبه في محافظة إيواتي المجاورة، بحسب وسائل إعلام محلية.
وظهرت على كلا الشخصين علامات تدل على أنهما تعرّضا لهجوم دببة. وحديثاً، هاجمت دببة سيّاحاً، ودخلت متاجر، وظهرت قرب مدارس ومتنزهات، خصوصاً في شمال البلاد.
The governor of a prefecture in northern Japan has called for the army to intervene to confront a "very horrifying" wave of bear attacks that have claimed the lives of several people across the country.
According to the Japanese government, 10 people have been killed by bear attacks this year, a rate that exceeds the previous record of 6 people recorded between April 2023 and March 2024.
Akita Prefecture Governor Kenta Suzuki said during a meeting with the Defense Minister in Tokyo, "We are currently in a situation where we cannot protect the lives of our citizens without the assistance of the Self-Defense Forces."
He added, "Attacks targeting the neck and face are very common and lead to extremely serious injuries," noting that the appearance of bears is no longer confined to the mountains but has also spread to urban areas.
He pointed out that it is "abnormal" for the daily lives of residents to be disrupted.
New Defense Minister Shingiro Koizumi confirmed that his ministry "will utilize all its capabilities and powers" to restore security and peace, while Environment Minister Hirotaka Ishihara described the situation as a "serious problem."
This death toll does not include individuals who have been killed in recent bear attacks.
Last Monday, the body of a woman was found near rice fields in Akita, while the body of a man and his dead dog were discovered in the neighboring Iwate Prefecture, according to local media.
Both individuals showed signs indicating they had been attacked by bears. Recently, bears have attacked tourists, entered stores, and appeared near schools and parks, particularly in the northern part of the country.
