أصيب 23 شخصاً بحالات اختناق متفاوتة الخطورة، أمس (السبت)، إثر اندلاع حريق هائل داخل متجر جملة وفيلا سكنية بإحدى القرى السياحية على طريق الإسكندرية-مطروح، عند الكيلو 100 في نطاق مدينة العلمين، بمحافظة مطروح شمال مصر.
وأفادت مصادر طبية وأمنية أن الحريق اندلع فجأة، ما تسبب في انتشار كثيف للدخان الكثيف داخل المنشأة، أدى إلى حالة ذعر وهلع بين الموجودين، وأسفر عن إصابات بالاختناق بسبب الدخان السام.
وتمكنت قوات الحماية المدنية من السيطرة على الحريق وإخماده بعد تدخل سريع بـ13 سيارات إطفاء وصهريجَي مياه، ومنع امتداده إلى باقي الوحدات في القرية السياحية.
وشاركت 4 سيارات إسعاف في نقل وإسعاف المصابين، وتم إسعاف 13 حالة في موقع الحادث بعد تلقيهم الإسعافات الأولية، بينما نُقلت 10 حالات أخرى إلى مستشفى العلمين المركزي لتلقي العلاج والمتابعة الطبية.
وتوجه محافظ مطروح اللواء خالد شعيب لمتابعة الحادث ميدانياً، وأكد تقديم أوجه الرعاية الطبية كافة للمصابين، مع الاطمئنان على سلامة المواطنين.
ويُعد الساحل الشمالي في مصر من الإسكندرية إلى مطروح وجهة سياحية رئيسية، خصوصاً خلال فصل الشتاء والعطلات، ويضم عشرات القرى والمنتجعات السياحية الفاخرة التي تجذب آلاف المصطافين والزوار من داخل مصر وخارجها.
ومع ذلك، شهدت المنطقة خلال السنوات الأخيرة حوادث حرائق متكررة في الشاليهات والمتاجر بسبب عوامل مثل الأسلاك الكهربائية المعيبة، وتسرب الغاز، أو استخدام مواد قابلة للاشتعال دون إجراءات سلامة كافية.
وكانت وزارة السياحة والآثار ومحافظة مطروح قد أعلنت تشديد الإجراءات الوقائية على المنشآت السياحية، بما في ذلك فحص أنظمة الإطفاء والكهرباء، وتدريب العاملين على التعامل مع الحرائق، بعد حوادث سابقة أدت إلى خسائر بشرية ومادية.
Twenty-three people suffered varying degrees of asphyxiation yesterday (Saturday) due to a massive fire that broke out inside a wholesale store and a residential villa in one of the tourist villages on the Alexandria-Matrouh road, at kilometer 100 within the city of El Alamein, in Matrouh Governorate, northern Egypt.
Medical and security sources reported that the fire erupted suddenly, causing a thick spread of smoke within the facility, which led to panic and fear among those present, resulting in injuries from asphyxiation due to toxic smoke.
The Civil Protection Forces managed to control and extinguish the fire after a rapid intervention with 13 fire trucks and two water tankers, preventing its spread to other units in the tourist village.
Four ambulances participated in transporting and treating the injured, with 13 cases receiving first aid at the scene of the incident, while 10 other cases were transferred to El Alamein Central Hospital for treatment and medical follow-up.
Matrouh Governor Major General Khaled Shuaib visited the site to monitor the incident and confirmed that all medical care would be provided to the injured, while ensuring the safety of citizens.
The North Coast in Egypt, from Alexandria to Matrouh, is a major tourist destination, especially during the winter season and holidays, featuring dozens of luxurious tourist villages and resorts that attract thousands of vacationers and visitors from within and outside Egypt.
However, the region has witnessed repeated fire incidents in chalets and stores in recent years due to factors such as faulty electrical wiring, gas leaks, or the use of flammable materials without adequate safety measures.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and Matrouh Governorate had announced the tightening of preventive measures on tourist facilities, including inspecting fire and electrical systems, and training staff on how to deal with fires, following previous incidents that resulted in human and material losses.
