أقالت جامعة أركنسو بمدينة ليتل روك الأمريكية أستاذة قانون بسبب تعليقات أدلت بها على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، حول مقتل الناشط المحافظ تشارلي كيرك في العاشر من سبتمبر الماضي.
والأستاذة الجامعية فيليسيا برانش هي أول أكاديمية في القانون يتم فصلها على ما يبدو بسبب تعليقات على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي حول كيرك، الذي أثار اغتياله في فعالية في جامعة يوتا فالي صدمة في البلاد، وأشعل نقاشات حول العنف السياسي.
ووفقاً للجمعية الأمريكية لأساتذة الجامعات، جرى فصل وتأديب أكثر من 50 أستاذاً جامعياً بسبب تعليقات عن كيرك.
وقال عميد كلية القانون بالجامعة كولن كروفورد أمس (الإثنين) إن برانش فُصلت «لسبب ما» لكنه رفض الإدلاء بمزيد من التعليقات.
وانضمت برانش إلى هيئة التدريس في الكلية في يوليو، وأدارت برنامجاً يساعد طلاب القانون دافعي الضرائب ذوي الدخول المنخفضة.
وتم إيقافها عن العمل في 16 سبتمبر بينما كانت الجامعة تجري تحقيقاً في منشوراتها على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي.
The University of Arkansas in Little Rock, USA, has dismissed a law professor due to comments she made on social media regarding the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10th.
Professor Felicia Branch is reportedly the first law academic to be fired seemingly due to comments on social media about Kirk, whose assassination at an event at Utah Valley University shocked the nation and ignited discussions about political violence.
According to the American Association of University Professors, more than 50 university professors have been dismissed or disciplined due to comments about Kirk.
Colin Crawford, the dean of the university's law school, stated yesterday (Monday) that Branch was fired "for some reason," but he declined to provide further comments.
Branch joined the faculty at the college in July and ran a program that assists low-income tax-paying law students.
She was suspended on September 16 while the university conducted an investigation into her social media posts.
