أُعلن اليوم (الجمعة) في مقر اليونسكو بباريس عن أسماء 5 علماء فازوا بجائزة اليونسكو - الفوزان الدولية، في دورتها الثانية، وذلك في حفل بهيج حضره نخبة من الشخصيات البارزة.
ونال الجائزة الأولى عن قارة أفريقيا ندوديكا مولونديليني من ناميبيا في فئة الهندسة والعلوم والتكنولوجيا «ستيم»، فيما نالت الجائزة الثانية عن المنطقة العربية الدكتورة مونيا لعسيري من المغرب في مجال فيزياء الطاقة العالية. أما الجائزة الثالثة فكانت من نصيب البروفيسور ليجينغ تشنغ من الصين عن أبحاثه في علوم المناخ، بينما توجت بالجائزة الرابعة الدكتورة كيرياكي ميكايليدو من قبرص عن أبحاثها في علم الأوبئة الوراثية. وفازت بالجائزة الخامسة الدكتورة روزا فاسكيز إسبينوزا من البيرو عن أبحاثها حول البيئة (غابة الأمازون وكيفية الحفاظ عليها)
الجائزة التي أطلقتها مؤسسة عبدالله الفوزان للتعليم عام 2021 تُعد أول جائزة دولية سعودية تحت مظلة اليونسكو، وتهدف إلى تكريم إنجازات بارزة في مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات (STEM). ويحصل كل فائز على 50 ألف دولار أمريكي، إضافة إلى ميدالية ودبلوم رسمي.
واستُهل الحفل بعرض فني قدمته الفنانة العالمية فريدريكا ستال، جمع بين الإبداع العلمي والتعبير الفني، ومزج بين ثقافات الشرق والغرب مسلطاً الضوء على مفاهيم ستيم.
وتُكرم الجائزة علماء شباباً من الأقاليم الجغرافية الخمسة للمنظمة في تخصصات العلوم والتكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات والتعليم. ففي نسختها الأولى، برز 5 علماء من الأرجنتين، مصر، صربيا، الكاميرون، والصين، بأبحاث أحدثت نقلة في مجالات الزراعة، الجينات، الرياضيات، الإلكترونيات والمياه.
Today (Friday), at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the names of 5 scientists who won the UNESCO - Al-Fawzan International Prize in its second edition were announced during a joyful ceremony attended by a select group of prominent figures.
The first prize for Africa was awarded to Ndodika Mulundileni from Namibia in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) category, while the second prize for the Arab region went to Dr. Mounia Laasiri from Morocco in the field of high-energy physics. The third prize was awarded to Professor Lijing Cheng from China for his research in climate sciences, while the fourth prize went to Dr. Kiriaki Michailidou from Cyprus for her research in genetic epidemiology. The fifth prize was awarded to Dr. Rosa Vasquez Espinoza from Peru for her research on the environment (the Amazon rainforest and how to preserve it).
The prize, launched by the Abdullah Al-Fawzan Foundation for Education in 2021, is the first Saudi international award under the auspices of UNESCO, aimed at honoring outstanding achievements in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Each winner receives $50,000, in addition to a medal and an official diploma.
The ceremony began with a performance by the international artist Frederica Stahl, which combined scientific creativity and artistic expression, blending Eastern and Western cultures while highlighting STEM concepts.
The award honors young scientists from the five geographical regions of the organization in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and education. In its first edition, 5 scientists from Argentina, Egypt, Serbia, Cameroon, and China stood out with research that made significant advancements in agriculture, genetics, mathematics, electronics, and water.
