شهدت بولندا حادثة مروّعة على خط السكك الحديدية الرابط بين غرانوو وستشيف غرب البلاد، بعدما اصطدم قطار ركاب بسيارة توقفت بشكل مفاجئ فوق القضبان.
وبحسب ما نشرته صحيفة ذا صن البريطانية، فإن الحادثة وقعت حين اقتحمت سيارة فضية من نوع أوبل الحاجز الحديدي عند معبر سكة حديدية، رغم نزول الأذرع التحذيرية وتفعيل الإشارات المرئية والصوتية.
وتوقفت السيارة في وضع حرج مباشرة فوق القضبان، قبل أن يرتطم بها قطار أحمر كان متجهاً من بوزنان إلى وولشتيـن، ما أدى إلى تحطم المركبة وتناثر حطامها على جانبي السكة، كما تعرض القطار لأضرار في مقدمته وانكسر أحد الحواجز بالكامل.
ووفق ما أظهرته كاميرات المراقبة، فإن السائق لم يحاول التراجع أو التقدّم لتفادي الاصطدام. وقد نُقل إلى المستشفى مصاباً بجروح متوسطة، بينما بقي القطار متوقفاً لساعات طويلة إلى حين استكمال أعمال الإنقاذ وإزالة الركام.
وأكدت الشركة المشغلة أن نظام التحذير الآلي كان يعمل بكفاءة تامة، وأشارت إلى أن تجاهل السائق للتعليمات هو السبب المباشر للحادثة، التي كان يمكن أن تتحوّل إلى كارثة أكبر لولا العناية الإلهية.
Poland witnessed a horrifying incident on the railway line connecting Granowo and Szczecin in the west of the country, after a passenger train collided with a car that had suddenly stopped on the tracks.
According to what was published by The Sun newspaper, the incident occurred when a silver Opel car breached the barrier at a railway crossing, despite the warning arms being lowered and the visual and audible signals being activated.
The car stopped in a critical position directly on the tracks, before being struck by a red train heading from Poznań to Wołcztyn, resulting in the vehicle being destroyed and debris scattered on both sides of the track. The train also sustained damage to its front, and one of the barriers was completely broken.
According to surveillance cameras, the driver did not attempt to reverse or move forward to avoid the collision. He was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, while the train remained stopped for several hours until rescue operations and debris removal were completed.
The operating company confirmed that the automatic warning system was functioning perfectly, and indicated that the driver's disregard for the instructions was the direct cause of the incident, which could have turned into a larger disaster were it not for divine intervention.
