لقي 76 شخصًا على الأقل مصرعهم مساء الثلاثاء في ولاية هرات غربي أفغانستان، بعد اصطدام حافلة تقل مهاجرين مرحَّلين من إيران بشاحنة ودراجة نارية، ما أدى إلى اندلاع حريق هائل.
وقال المتحدث باسم حاكم المنطقة محمد يوسف سعيدي اليوم (الأربعاء) إن ثلاثة أشخاص آخرين ما زالوا في حالة حرجة. وأكد أن الحادثة وقعت على الطريق الدائري هرات في إقليم غوزارا.
كانت الحافلة تقل مهاجرين أفغان جرى ترحيلهم من إيران، وكانوا في طريقهم من معبر إسلام قلعة الحدودي إلى العاصمة كابل. لكن الاصطدام بشاحنة محروقات تسبب في حريق مدمّر أودى بحياة العشرات.
وأكد المتحدث باسم حكومة طالبان ذبيح الله مجاهد لوكالة الأنباء الألمانية أن جميع الضحايا من المرحلين حديثًا من إيران.
وتشهد أفغانستان في الأشهر الأخيرة تدفقًا كبيرًا للعائدين من إيران وباكستان. ووفقًا للتقارير، عاد أكثر من 1.5 مليون شخص منذ مطلع العام، بينما تقول طهران إنها رحّلت 1.2 مليون لاجئ أفغاني خلال الأشهر الستة الماضية.
وتعتبر حوادث الطرق شائعة في أفغانستان بسبب رداءة البنية التحتية والقيادة المتهورة. ففي ديسمبر الماضي، أدت حادثة تصادم حافلتين مع شاحنة وصهريج وقود في وسط البلاد إلى مقتل ما لا يقل عن 52 شخصًا. وتعد حادثة هرات الأخيرة من بين الأكثر دموية هذا العام، وتكشف هشاشة أوضاع اللاجئين العائدين وظروف النقل داخل البلاد.
At least 76 people were killed on Tuesday evening in Herat province, western Afghanistan, after a bus carrying migrants deported from Iran collided with a truck and a motorcycle, leading to a massive fire.
The spokesperson for the regional governor, Mohammad Yusuf Saidi, stated today (Wednesday) that three other individuals remain in critical condition. He confirmed that the incident occurred on the Herat ring road in the Guzara district.
The bus was carrying Afghan migrants who had been deported from Iran and were on their way from the Islam Qala border crossing to the capital, Kabul. However, the collision with a fuel truck caused a devastating fire that claimed dozens of lives.
Taliban government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed to the German news agency that all the victims were recently deported from Iran.
In recent months, Afghanistan has witnessed a significant influx of returnees from Iran and Pakistan. According to reports, more than 1.5 million people have returned since the beginning of the year, while Tehran claims to have deported 1.2 million Afghan refugees in the past six months.
Road accidents are common in Afghanistan due to poor infrastructure and reckless driving. Last December, a collision involving two buses and a fuel tanker in the central part of the country resulted in the deaths of at least 52 people. The recent Herat incident is among the deadliest this year, highlighting the precarious situation of returning refugees and the conditions of transportation within the country.
