أثار إطلاق نموذج الذكاء الصناعي GPT-5 من شركة OpenAI جدلاً واسعًا بعد أن وصفه كثير من المستخدمين والمراقبين بأنه لم يرقَ إلى مستوى التوقعات التي سبقت الإعلان، رغم الزخم الإعلامي الكبير الذي أحاط به.
وكان الرئيس التنفيذي للشركة، سام ألتمان، قد شبّه النموذج الجديد بإنجاز تقني يوازي إطلاق أول هاتف «آيفون» بشاشة «Retina»، بل ونشر صورة «نجمة الموت» قبل الإعلان الرسمي، ما رفع من سقف الترقب. غير أن ما كشف عنه بدا بالنسبة لعدد كبير من المتابعين مجرد تحسينات تدريجية، تركزت في مجالات السرعة وخفض التكلفة، بينما غابت القفزات النوعية المنتظرة.
ويعود الاهتمام بـ GPT-5 إلى كونه النسخة الأولى بعد نحو عامين من إطلاق GPT-4 في 2023، وسط أسئلة متكررة من المستخدمين على منصات مثل Reddit حول سبب التأخير. وأوضح ألتمان حينها أن التعقيد المتزايد لهذه النماذج والحاجة إلى قدرات حوسبة هائلة يمثلان العائق الأكبر.
وبحسب تقارير تقنية، فإن GPT-5 يتمتع بتحسينات ملحوظة في البرمجة والرياضيات والكتابة والصحة والإدراك البصري، لكن كثيرين وصفوا الفارق عن النسخة السابقة بأنه أقل من المتوقع. ومع ذلك، يرى محللون أن هذه التعديلات قد تمثل على المدى الطويل رهانًا اقتصاديًا ناجحًا للشركة، حتى لو بدت أقل جاذبية جماهيريًا عند الإطلاق.
The launch of the AI model GPT-5 by OpenAI has sparked widespread controversy after many users and observers described it as falling short of the expectations that preceded the announcement, despite the significant media buzz surrounding it.
The company's CEO, Sam Altman, likened the new model to a technological achievement comparable to the launch of the first iPhone with a Retina display, even sharing an image of the "Death Star" before the official announcement, which raised the bar for anticipation. However, what was revealed seemed to many followers to be merely incremental improvements, focused on areas of speed and cost reduction, while the expected qualitative leaps were absent.
The interest in GPT-5 stems from it being the first version released about two years after the launch of GPT-4 in 2023, amidst recurring questions from users on platforms like Reddit about the reason for the delay. Altman explained at the time that the increasing complexity of these models and the need for immense computing power represent the biggest obstacles.
According to tech reports, GPT-5 boasts notable improvements in programming, mathematics, writing, health, and visual perception, but many described the difference from the previous version as less than expected. Nevertheless, analysts believe that these adjustments could represent a successful economic bet for the company in the long run, even if they appeared less appealing to the public at launch.
