يُعد نورمان فوستر المهندس البريطاني العالمي، واحداً من أبرز العقول المعمارية في عصرنا، بفضل تصاميمه التي تمزج بين التقنية والهوية والبيئة، مع تركيز خاص على الراحة البشرية، والإضاءة الطبيعية، واستخدام الخامات المحلية.
وعلى الصعيد العالمي، ارتبط اسمه بمشاريع مميزة مثل مبنى «غيركين» في لندن، وبرج «هيرست» في نيويورك، وقبة «الرايخستاغ» في برلين.
أما في السعودية، فقد ترك فوستر بصمته في مشاريع استراتيجية كبرى، منها تصميم برج الفيصلية أحد أشهر معالم الرياض، ومحطات قطار الحرمين ذات الطابع الإسلامي الحديث، ومطار البحر الأحمر الدولي المستوحى من الكثبان الرملية، ومنتجع Six Senses Southern Dunes الذي يعكس روح الصحراء، وجزيرة لاحق ضمن مشروع البحر الأحمر بتصميم دائري حول بحيرة وفلل فاخرة مطلة على البحر، وجناح السعودية في إكسبو 2025 الذي يحاكي القرى التراثية، إضافة إلى تصميم مطار أبها الذي نال ثقة القيادة السعودية وتُوّج بجملة رمزية: «فوستر عظيم».
Norman Foster, the globally renowned British architect, is considered one of the most prominent architectural minds of our time, thanks to his designs that blend technology, identity, and environment, with a special focus on human comfort, natural light, and the use of local materials.
Globally, his name is associated with iconic projects such as the "Gherkin" building in London, the "Hearst" Tower in New York, and the "Reichstag" dome in Berlin.
In Saudi Arabia, Foster has left his mark on major strategic projects, including the design of the Kingdom Centre, one of Riyadh's most famous landmarks, the modern Islamic-style Haramain train stations, the Red Sea International Airport inspired by sand dunes, the Six Senses Southern Dunes resort reflecting the spirit of the desert, and the Lahag Island within the Red Sea project designed in a circular layout around a lake with luxury villas overlooking the sea, as well as the Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2025, which mimics traditional villages, in addition to the design of Abha Airport, which earned the trust of the Saudi leadership and was crowned with the symbolic phrase: "Foster is great."
