في خطوة مفاجئة، دعت هيئة الإذاعة والتلفزيون الإيرانية المواطنين، (الثلاثاء)، إلى حذف تطبيق واتساب من هواتفهم الذكية، متهمة إياه بجمع بيانات المستخدمين لصالح جهاز الموساد الإسرائيلي.
جاء هذا التحذير بعد إعادة فرض الحظر على التطبيق في إيران، عقب تصاعد التوترات الأمنية إثر غارات إسرائيلية استهدفت مواقع داخل البلاد.
وكانت السلطات الإيرانية قد سمحت باستخدام واتساب في ديسمبر 2024 ضمن تخفيف القيود على الإنترنت، لكن التطورات الأخيرة، بما فيها اتهامات باستخدام التطبيق في عمليات تجسس، أعادت القيود إلى الواجهة.
وفي سياق متصل، أعلنت الأجهزة الأمنية الإيرانية عن تفكيك شبكة تجسس في محافظة أصفهان، حيث ضبطت ورشة لتصنيع طائرات مسيرة ومتفجرات، إلى جانب ورشة سرية في مدينة ري تحتوي على 200 كيلوغرام من المواد المتفجرة، وطائرات انتحارية، ومعدات تصنيع متطورة.
وأثارت تقارير إعلامية إيرانية مخاوف من أن تطبيقات مثل واتساب وتليغرام تُستخدم لتتبع المواقع الجغرافية، مما يشكل تهديداً للأمن القومي.
ونقلت وكالة «إمنا» عن مصادر رسمية أن التطبيقات تجمع بيانات المستخدمين، بما في ذلك مواقعهم واتصالاتهم، وتنقلها إلى جهات معادية.
كما حذرت قيادة الأمن السيبراني من استخدام الأجهزة الذكية المتصلة بالإنترنت، ومنعت المسؤولين من استخدامها في الأماكن الحساسة.
وتستند المخاوف الإيرانية إلى تقارير دولية كشفت عن استخدام الجيش الإسرائيلي لنظام ذكاء اصطناعي يُدعى «لافندر»، مدعوم من شركة «ميتا»، لتحديد أهداف في غزة.
وفقاً لتحقيقات نشرتها مجلة «+972» وصحيفتي «الغارديان» و«إلبايس»، استهدف النظام 37 ألف فلسطيني بناءً على بيانات من واتساب، بما في ذلك عضوية المستخدمين في مجموعات معينة، مما أدى إلى مقتل 15 ألف شخص خلال الأسابيع الأولى من الحرب على غزة.
وأثار الناشط التقني الأيرلندي بول بيجار تساؤلات حول دور «ميتا» في تسريب بيانات المستخدمين، متهماً الشركة بالتواطؤ في عمليات استهداف.
وأشار إلى أن دعم مارك زوكربيرج، الرئيس التنفيذي لـ«ميتا»، لمنظمات إسرائيلية مثيرة للجدل، مثل تبرعه لمنظمة «زاكا»، يعزز هذه الشكوك.
In a surprising move, the Iranian Broadcasting and Television Authority called on citizens, on Tuesday, to delete the WhatsApp application from their smartphones, accusing it of collecting user data for the benefit of the Israeli Mossad.
This warning came after the re-imposition of a ban on the application in Iran, following heightened security tensions due to Israeli airstrikes targeting sites within the country.
The Iranian authorities had allowed the use of WhatsApp in December 2024 as part of a relaxation of internet restrictions, but recent developments, including accusations of the application being used for espionage operations, have brought the restrictions back to the forefront.
In a related context, Iranian security agencies announced the dismantling of a spy network in Isfahan province, where they seized a workshop for manufacturing drones and explosives, along with a secret workshop in the city of Rey containing 200 kilograms of explosive materials, suicide drones, and advanced manufacturing equipment.
Iranian media reports have raised concerns that applications like WhatsApp and Telegram are being used to track geographical locations, posing a threat to national security.
The "Imna" agency quoted official sources stating that the applications collect user data, including their locations and communications, and transmit it to hostile entities.
The Cybersecurity Command also warned against using internet-connected smart devices and prohibited officials from using them in sensitive locations.
Iranian concerns are based on international reports revealing that the Israeli army uses an artificial intelligence system called "Lavender," supported by Meta, to identify targets in Gaza.
According to investigations published by the magazine "+972" and the newspapers "The Guardian" and "El País," the system targeted 37,000 Palestinians based on data from WhatsApp, including users' membership in specific groups, leading to the deaths of 15,000 people during the first weeks of the war on Gaza.
Irish tech activist Paul Bejar raised questions about Meta's role in leaking user data, accusing the company of complicity in targeting operations.
He pointed out that Mark Zuckerberg's support for controversial Israeli organizations, such as his donation to the "Zaka" organization, reinforces these suspicions.
