تحول حلم عائلة كورجي بامتلاك منزل فخم في ليستر إلى كابوس استمر أربع سنوات، بعد أن هدم مقاول غاضب سقف منزلهم البالغة قيمته 500 ألف جنيه إسترليني، تاركاً إياهم في ديون طائلة ومنزل غير صالح للسكن.
وفقًا لموقع mail online، بدأت القصة في صيف 2021، عندما سافرت العائلة في إجازة نادرة، ليعودوا ويجدوا منزلهم في شارع غيلفورد، بضواحي ليستر، مدمراً بعد نزاع مع مقاول حول دفع 3,500 جنيه إسترليني إضافية بسبب رداءة العمل.
تصاعد الخلاف فقام المقاول، الذي لم يُكشف اسمه، بهدم السقف وترك الموقع مليئاً بالأنقاض، مما أثار غضب الجيران وتسبب في أزمة مالية للعائلة.
واضطرت العائلة، المكونة من الزوجين وطفليهما وجديهما، للعيش في بنغل صغير يملكه والدا السيد كورجي، بينما استغرقت إعادة بناء المنزل حتى يناير 2024.
وخسرت العائلة عشرات الآلاف من الجنيهات، لكنهم نجحوا أخيراً في الانتقال إلى منزلهم المكون من سبع غرف نوم، بتصميم مفتوح وأرضيات رخامية وتدفئة أرضية.
وقال صديق مقرب للعائلة لصحيفة mail online، إن السيدة كورجي (38 عاماً) وزوجها (44 عاماً) شعرا بالغضب والحزن، لكنهما يحاولان تجاوز الأزمة والاستمتاع بمنزلهم الجديد في حي ستونيغيت الراقي.
وأشار إلى أن بعض الجيران اتهموا العائلة ظلماً بترك الموقع كومة من الأنقاض لسنوات، وبعد إعادة البناء، انتقدوا التصميم الحديث للمنزل الأبيض ذي الثلاثة طوابق، معتبرين أنه لا يتناسب مع الطابع التقليدي للشارع.
وأوضح الصديق أن العائلة حصلت على موافقة رسمية من مجلس مدينة ليستر لتحويل المنزل القديم إلى تصميم عصري، لكن المقاول الأول، الذي كان يُدعى توماس، تخلى عن المشروع بعد نزاع حول الدفعات، مدمراً المنزل قبل أن يختفي.
وتولى مقاولون جدد المهمة تحت إشراف صارم من والد زوجة السيد كورجي، مما ساعد على إتمام العمل. ورغم الخسائر المالية، تعافت العائلة وتستمتع الآن بحياة هادئة، مع دعوات لمجلس المدينة لتطبيق تدابير تهدئة المرور في الشارع.

According to Mail Online, the story began in the summer of 2021, when the family went on a rare vacation, only to return and find their home on Guilford Street, in the suburbs of Leicester, destroyed after a dispute with a contractor over an additional £3,500 due to poor workmanship.
The dispute escalated, and the contractor, whose name has not been revealed, demolished the roof and left the site filled with debris, which angered the neighbors and caused a financial crisis for the family.
The family, consisting of the couple, their two children, and their grandparents, had to live in a small bungalow owned by Mr. Korgi's parents while the reconstruction of the house took until January 2024.
The family lost tens of thousands of pounds, but they finally succeeded in moving into their seven-bedroom home, featuring an open design, marble floors, and underfloor heating.
A close friend of the family told Mail Online that Mrs. Korgi (38) and her husband (44) felt anger and sadness, but they are trying to get past the crisis and enjoy their new home in the upscale Stoneygate neighborhood.
The friend noted that some neighbors unjustly accused the family of leaving the site a pile of rubble for years, and after the reconstruction, they criticized the modern design of the three-story white house, considering it incompatible with the traditional character of the street.
The friend explained that the family obtained official approval from Leicester City Council to convert the old house into a modern design, but the original contractor, named Thomas, abandoned the project after a dispute over payments, destroying the house before disappearing.
New contractors took over the task under the strict supervision of Mr. Korgi's father-in-law, which helped complete the work. Despite the financial losses, the family has recovered and is now enjoying a peaceful life, with calls for the city council to implement traffic calming measures on the street.
