حسم نادي أرسنال قمة الجولة الأولى من البريمييرليغ بعد فوزه على مان يونايتد في ملعب الاولد ترافورد بنتيجة 1 - 0 في اللقاء الذي جمعهما.
اللقاء حسمته الأخطاء الفردية التي صاحبت المباراة، وكانت عاملاً حاسما في تحديد هوية الفائز.
دخل الفريقان المواجهة بالحلة الجديدة وبمشاركة أغلب التعاقدات بالرغم من غياب سيسكو حتى الشوط الثاني وبمشاركة غيوكيريس. افتتح أرسنال التسجيل في الشوط الأول بعد أن ترجم ركنية داخل المرمى مستفيداً من خطأ حارس مرمى اليونايتد التركي بايندير.
في المقابل كان اليونايتد الأفضل في اللقاء، فسيطر على المواجهة، وقدم الوافدان الجديدان مبيمو وكونيا أوراق اعتمادهما للجماهير، لكنهما فشلا في التسجيل، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز أرسنال 1 - 0.
ليواصل بذلك أرسنال سجله المميز أمام الأندية الكبار في إنجلترا، إذ لم يخسر في 22 مباراة أمام أندية مانشستر يونايتد ومانشستر سيتي وتشلسي وليفربول وتوتنهام.
