يدرس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «FIFA»، تعديل نظام التأهل لبطولة كأس العالم للأندية في نسختها الثانية لمنح الأندية الكبيرة فرصة الظهور في النهائيات بعد غياب كبار أندية أوروبا مثل (مانشستر يونايتد، برشلونة، ليفربول، ميلان) عن النسخة الأولى التي اختتمت بتتويج نادي تشيلسي الإنجليزي باللقب بعد فوزه على باريس سان جرمان الفرنسي (3 - 0) على ملعب (متلايف) في ولاية نيو جيرسي، التي شارك فيها 32 فريقاً، وفقاً لصحيفة «آس» الإسبانية، التي قالت: «الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم، يدرس مقترحات جديدة عدة، من بينها تنظيم مباريات فاصلة بين الأندية الكبيرة التي لم تتأهل تلقائياً، من أجل منحها فرصة إضافية للمشاركة في النسخة الثانية، وتعديل الحد الأقصى لعدد الأندية الممثلة لكل دولة، ومنح أماكن إضافية لأندية ذات تصنيف أعلى أو سجل أوروبي مميز؛ بهدف ضمان حضور أقوى الفرق وضمان مستوى تنافسي أعلى».
يذكر أن الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «FIFA»، لم يحسم الدولة المستضيفة للبطولة الثانية من كأس العالم للأندية المقرر إقامتها صيف 2029، إذ تقدمت أستراليا، قطر، البرازيل، وملف مشترك بين إسبانيا والبرتغال بطلبات رسمية لاستضافة الحدث العالمي.

The International Football Federation "FIFA" is studying a modification to the qualification system for the second edition of the FIFA Club World Cup to give big clubs a chance to appear in the finals after the absence of major European clubs such as Manchester United, Barcelona, Liverpool, and AC Milan from the first edition, which concluded with Chelsea FC winning the title after defeating Paris Saint-Germain (3 - 0) at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. This edition featured 32 teams, according to the Spanish newspaper "AS," which stated: "FIFA is considering several new proposals, including organizing playoff matches between the big clubs that did not qualify automatically, to give them an additional opportunity to participate in the second edition, modifying the maximum number of clubs represented by each country, and granting additional spots to clubs with higher rankings or distinguished European records; with the aim of ensuring the presence of the strongest teams and guaranteeing a higher competitive level."
It is worth noting that FIFA has not yet decided on the host country for the second edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the summer of 2029, as Australia, Qatar, Brazil, and a joint bid from Spain and Portugal have submitted official requests to host the global event.
