أكّد مدرب المنتخب السعودي الأول لكرة القدم الفرنسي هيرفي رينارد خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي عُقد بعد مباراة المكسيك التي خسرها الأخضر بهدفين دون رد في ربع نهائي بطولة الكأس الذهبية، أن الحظ لم يحالف المنتخب السعودي أمام نظيره المكسيكي وذلك لصعوبة المواجهة، مبيناً أن القرارات الفنية لم تكن صائبة خلال المباراة.
وعن مشاركة المنتخب السعودي في الكأس الذهبية أشاد هيرفي بالمشاركة، مشيرا إلى أنها عززت الخبرة، وساهمت في حصول اللاعبين على فرصة لخوض التجربة واللعب مع المنتخبات العالمية المشاركة بالبطولة.
وغادر المنتخب السعودي الأول لكرة القدم بطولة الكأس الذهبية، بعد خسارته من نظيره المكسيكي بهدفين دون رد، في المواجهة التي جرت بينهما اليوم، لحساب دور ربع النهائي.
وجاء هدفا المباراة في الشوط الثاني، حيث افتتح اللاعب ألكسيس فيغا التسجيل في الدقيقة 49، فيما جاء الهدف الثاني عن طريق اللاعب عبدالله مادو بالخطأ في مرماه في الدقيقة 81.
