In an exceptional gesture, a French airline decided to honor the legend "Ronaldo" following his announcement of retirement from international play by withdrawing the seats numbered 7C from its flights to Funchal.
The company revealed the initiative through its official account on Instagram, posting a picture of the Portugal national team jersey bearing Ronaldo's name and number 7, placed on one of the airplane seats, accompanied by a message: "As CR7 hangs up his boots, the seats numbered 7C are also out of service on our flights to Funchal."
The decision carries special significance, as the company drew inspiration from Ronaldo's famous nickname CR7 and linked it to the seat number 7C, specifically choosing flights to Funchal, considering it the birthplace of the Portuguese star on the island of Madeira, where he was born on February 5, 1985.
The initiative came after Ronaldo announced his international retirement on November 5, 2026, ending a career that spanned more than 23 years with Portugal, which began in August 2003. During this time, he played 234 matches and scored 146 goals, making him the most capped and highest-scoring player in the history of international football, according to a report broadcast by the "RT" website.
