وخلافًا لما نشرته صحيفة لو كوتيديان السنغالية، التي استندت في تقريرها إلى تصريح منسوب للاعب الدولي السنغالي، لم يُعلن ساديو ماني نهاية مسيرته مع المنتخب الوطني.
ونشرت صحيفة ليكيب هذه المعلومات المغلوطة، وقدمت اعتذارًا عن ذلك. ونفت صحيفة «سبورت نيوز أفريكا المتخصصة» هذه الشائعة، مستندةً إلى تصريحات من المقربين من اللاعب.
