أعلنت دار هيريتدج للمزادات أن الكرة التي استُخدمت في مباراة الأرجنتين وإنجلترا في دور الثمانية لكأس العالم لكرة القدم 1986، واشتهرت بهدف دييغو مارادونا المثير للجدل، ستُطرح في مزاد علني بسعر افتتاحي يبلغ 2.5 مليون دولار.
ووصفت دار المزادات القطعة بأنها «الكأس المقدسة» لهواة الجمع، مشيرة إلى أنها قد تحقق سعرًا مماثلًا للمبلغ القياسي البالغ 9.2 مليون دولار الذي دُفع عام 2022 مقابل قميص مارادونا الذي ارتداه في المباراة ذاتها.
وقال مايك بروفينزال، المتخصص في المزادات لدى هيريتدج، إنه لا توجد سوابق مماثلة يمكن الاستناد إليها لتقدير السعر الذي قد تصل إليه الكرة في المزاد.
وأضاف: إنها قطعة فريدة من نوعها بكل معنى الكلمة، ويمكن القول إنها أهم قطعة تذكارية في عالم كرة القدم موجودة حاليًا.
ويأتي تنظيم المزاد في وقت تشهد فيه سوق المقتنيات الخاصة بكرة القدم ازدهارًا متزايدًا، مدفوعًا بإقامة كأس العالم 2026 في الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك.

The Heritage Auctions announced that the ball used in the Argentina vs. England quarter-final match of the 1986 FIFA World Cup, famous for Diego Maradona's controversial goal, will be auctioned with an opening price of $2.5 million.
The auction house described the piece as the "holy grail" for collectors, noting that it could achieve a price similar to the record amount of $9.2 million paid in 2022 for the shirt Maradona wore in the same match.
Mike Provenzal, a specialist in auctions at Heritage, stated that there are no comparable precedents to estimate the price the ball might reach at auction.
He added: It is a one-of-a-kind piece in every sense of the word, and it could be said to be the most important memorabilia in the world of football currently available.
The auction is being organized at a time when the market for football collectibles is experiencing increasing prosperity, driven by the upcoming 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Provenzal said: The United States leads the sports collectibles market; this market actually started here and has a massive base of collectors, with their numbers growing at an enormous rate.
