ويفترض أن يخوض المنتخب الإيراني مباراته الأولى في 15 يونيو ضد نيوزيلندا في لوس أنجلوس، لكن بحسب السفير الإيراني في المكسيك، لم يحصل لاعبو المنتخب الوطني حتى الآن على تأشيرات دخول إلى الولايات المتحدة، واضطر الإيرانيون إلى نقل معسكرهم الأساسي، الذي كان مقررا في مدينة توكسون الأمريكية، إلى مدينة تيخوانا الحدودية في شمال غرب المكسيك.
