Al-Gharafa of Qatar achieved their first three points in the current edition of the AFC Champions League after defeating their guest Al-Shorta from Iraq 2-0 in the match that took place this evening (Monday) at Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan, as part of the second round of the competition.

The two goals for Al-Gharafa came from Josilo (48') and Ferjani Sassi (54').

The match began strongly for Al-Shorta, as their Syrian striker Mahmoud Al-Mawas shot a ball from inside the penalty area that hit the post and went out of play. Then, Abdul Razak Sabihawi took a shot from outside the penalty area that went past the post. Al-Gharafa responded through their player Jose Mato, who capitalized on a defensive error to face the goal and hit a powerful shot, but it was deflected off the post.

Al-Gharafa's performance improved in the second half of the match, and they succeeded in scoring the first goal after Yassine Brahimi exploited a defensive mistake and delivered a cross from inside the penalty area to Josilo, who placed it into the net (48'). Not long after, Al-Gharafa doubled their lead with a second goal when Yassine Brahimi executed a direct free kick perfectly from the right side to his teammate Ferjani Sassi, who headed it directly into the net (54'). The score remained unchanged, allowing Al-Gharafa to maintain their lead until the final whistle.

With this result, Al-Gharafa achieves their first victory and collects their first three points, while Al-Shorta's tally remains at one point.
