The UAE Football Association emphasized in a statement it issued its complete rejection of any doubts regarding the integrity and competence of the members of the UAE refereeing sector, which is achieving significant successes locally, regionally, and internationally. This came in light of the Al Ain Club's criticisms of the refereeing level in the first team’s match against Al Bataeh, which ended in favor of Al Ain with a score of two to one.
The UAE Football Association added in its statement: “The Football Association strongly objects to the inappropriate criticism of the refereeing decisions published by the official platforms of Al Ain Club,” calling on the club's officials to adhere to sports values and principles of respect and not to undermine the work of others.
It stated: “The Football Association also confirms that it has begun taking the necessary legal actions against Al Ain Club, and it will take similar legal actions against anyone who diminishes its work or the performance of its members in an inappropriate manner.”
The association noted in its press statement that “the evaluation of football referees comes from the Football Association and its Board of Directors according to the powers granted under the constitution, and it is not within the purview of Al Ain Club to interfere in these powers,” pointing out that “there are clear mechanisms regarding objections to refereeing decisions,” urging Al Ain Club to “focus on its internal affairs.”
The Football Association continued in its statement: “It is worth mentioning that for the past two seasons, there have been numerous administrative errors committed by the club and its members during administrative transactions with the association, which the Football Association has dealt with professionally, through its official channels, and the association hopes that the club will further develop the performance of its members and refrain from getting involved in matters that do not concern it.”
The UAE Football Association indicated in its statement that “the issue of developing refereeing is the responsibility of the Football Association through committees and working teams that include high competencies and operate according to clear foundations and principles.”
The UAE Football Association concluded its statement by saying: “The Football Association clarifies that Al Ain Club and other clubs can request the assistance of foreign referees for their matches according to the approved mechanism, in case they are dissatisfied with the performance of the local referees.”
