دعت المقررة الخاصة للأمم المتحدة المعنية بحقوق الإنسان في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة فرانشيسكا ألبانيزي الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم (يويفا) إلى استبعاد إسرائيل من جميع مسابقاته الرياضية، وذلك على خلفية اتهامات بارتكاب «جرائم حرب وجرائم ضد الإنسانية» في قطاع غزة.
وجاءت دعوة ألبانيزي بعد أن شاركت منشورا على منصة «إكس» من حساب «يويفا» حول وفاة لاعب منتخب فلسطين السابق سليمان العبيد الملقب بـ«بيليه الفلسطيني»، حيث كتبت: «حان الوقت لاستبعاد المسؤولين عن القتل من المسابقات، يا يويفا، لنجعل الرياضة خالية من الفصل العنصري والإبادة الجماعية، كرة تلو الأخرى».
تأتي هذه الدعوة بعد أن أصدرت «يويفا» بياناً نعت فيه لاعب كرة القدم الفلسطيني السابق سليمان العبيد، الملقب بـ«بيليه الفلسطيني»، الذي قُتل الأربعاء، 6 أغسطس، برصاص القوات الإسرائيلية أثناء انتظاره للحصول على مساعدات إنسانية في جنوب قطاع غزة، وفقاً لما أفاد به الاتحاد الفلسطيني لكرة القدم.
وأثارت تغريدة «يويفا»، التي تجنبت ذكر ظروف مقتل العبيد، انتقادات واسعة، خصوصاً من نجم كرة القدم المصري محمد صلاح، الذي رد عبر حسابة الرسمي على منصة «إكس» متسائلاً: «هل يمكنكم إخبارنا كيف مات، وأين، ولِمَ؟».
وتُعد هذه الدعوة جزءًا من سلسلة مواقف ألبانيزي المناهضة للسياسات الإسرائيلية، حيث سبق أن وصفت الحرب في غزة بـ«الإبادة الجماعية» في تقرير قدمته إلى مجلس حقوق الإنسان التابع للأمم المتحدة في مارس 2024، ما أثار جدلاً واسعاً واتهامات بمعاداة السامية من إسرائيل والولايات المتحدة، وهي اتهامات رفضتها ألبانيزي ودافع عنها العديد من خبراء حقوق الإنسان.
وفرانشيسكا ألبانيزي محامية إيطالية متخصصة في حقوق الإنسان، تتولى منصب المقررة الخاصة للأمم المتحدة منذ مايو 2022، وهي أول امرأة تشغل هذا المنصب، وحصلت على شهادة في القانون من جامعة بيزا، وماجستير في حقوق الإنسان من جامعة SOAS في لندن، وعملت لسنوات في منظمات الأمم المتحدة المعنية باللاجئين وحقوق الإنسان.
وتُعرف ألبانيزي بمواقفها الحادة ضد الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، حيث دعت في تقاريرها إلى إنهاء «الاستعمار الاستيطاني» و«الفصل العنصري» في الأراضي الفلسطينية، وهو ما أثار انتقادات شديدة من إسرائيل وبعض حلفائها، بما في ذلك الولايات المتحدة، التي فرضت عقوبات عليها في يوليو بسبب تقريرها حول «اقتصاد الإبادة الجماعية» الذي اتهم شركات عالمية بالتواطؤ في انتهاكات إسرائيل.
وسبق أن شهدت الساحة الرياضية دعوات مماثلة لاستبعاد إسرائيل، حيث طالبت 12 دولة عربية في فبراير 2024 الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا) بمنع المنتخب الإسرائيلي من المشاركة بسبب الحرب في غزة، كما أثارت تصرفات بعض مشجعي الأندية الإسرائيلية، مثل هتافات عنصرية في مباراة أقيمت في رومانيا، انتقادات واسعة ومطالب بفرض عقوبات على إسرائيل في الرياضة.
The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, has called on the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to exclude Israel from all its sporting competitions, following allegations of committing "war crimes and crimes against humanity" in the Gaza Strip.
Albanese's call came after she shared a post on the "X" platform from UEFA's account regarding the death of former Palestinian national team player Suleiman Al-Obaid, nicknamed "the Palestinian Pelé." She wrote: "It is time to exclude those responsible for the killings from competitions, UEFA, let’s make sports free from apartheid and genocide, one ball at a time."
This call follows UEFA's statement mourning the former Palestinian football player Suleiman Al-Obaid, who was killed on Wednesday, August 6, by Israeli forces while waiting for humanitarian aid in southern Gaza, according to the Palestinian Football Association.
UEFA's tweet, which avoided mentioning the circumstances of Al-Obaid's death, sparked widespread criticism, particularly from Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah, who responded via his official account on the "X" platform, asking: "Can you tell us how he died, where, and why?"
This call is part of a series of Albanese's stances against Israeli policies, as she previously described the war in Gaza as "genocide" in a report she presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council in March 2024, which sparked widespread controversy and accusations of anti-Semitism from Israel and the United States—accusations that Albanese rejected and were defended by many human rights experts.
Francesca Albanese is an Italian lawyer specializing in human rights, serving as the UN Special Rapporteur since May 2022, and she is the first woman to hold this position. She holds a law degree from the University of Pisa and a master's degree in human rights from SOAS University in London, and she has worked for years in UN organizations concerned with refugees and human rights.
Albanese is known for her strong positions against the Israeli occupation, as she has called in her reports for an end to "settler colonialism" and "apartheid" in the Palestinian territories, which has drawn severe criticism from Israel and some of its allies, including the United States, which imposed sanctions on her in July due to her report on "the economy of genocide" that accused global companies of complicity in Israel's violations.
Similar calls to exclude Israel have previously been witnessed in the sports arena, as 12 Arab countries demanded in February 2024 that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) prevent the Israeli national team from participating due to the war in Gaza. Additionally, the actions of some Israeli club fans, such as racist chants during a match held in Romania, sparked widespread criticism and calls for sanctions against Israel in sports.
