تأهل مانشستر سيتي إلى دور نصف النهائي من بطولة كأس رابطة الأندية الإنجليزية المحترفة «كاراباو»، بعد فوزه على ضيفه برينتفورد بهدفين دون مقابل، في اللقاء الذي جمعهما مساء أمس (الأربعاء) على ملعب «الاتحاد».
وأنهى مانشستر سيتي الشوط الأول متقدماً بهدف سجله ريان شرقي، بعدما أطلق تسديدة قوية من على حدود منطقة الجزاء استقرت في الزاوية اليسرى لمرمى برينتفورد.
وفي الدقيقة 67، عزز السيتي تقدمه بالهدف الثاني، إثر تسديدة قوية من سافينيو داخل منطقة الجزاء اصطدمت بمدافع برينتفورد كريستوفر آيير، لتغير اتجاهها وتسكن الشباك من فوق الحارس.
وحاول برينتفورد تقليص الفارق خلال الدقائق المتبقية، إلا أن حارس مانشستر سيتي جيمس ترافورد تصدى لجميع المحاولات، ليحافظ على نظافة شباكه.
ويحمل نيوكاسل لقب النسخة الماضية من بطولة كأس كاراباو، فيما يتربع ليفربول على صدارة الأندية الأكثر تتويجاً بـ10 ألقاب.
