Chelsea player Marc Cucurella revealed an unusual incident during the trophy presentation ceremony for the FIFA Club World Cup after the team's victory over Paris Saint-Germain 3-0, due to an unexpected intervention from U.S. President Donald Trump during the award ceremony, which caused confusion among the players and coaching staff.
In statements reported by the Daily Mail, Cucurella explained that the team received clear instructions stating that Trump would be present to present the trophy, but they were not allowed to lift it until he left the stage. However, things did not go as expected.
The Spanish player said: "We were told that it was customary for Donald Trump to present the trophy, and that we couldn't lift it before he left. But we kept waiting, and he didn't want to leave. We looked at him, and he told us: 'Lift it, I'll stay here, and so on.. and at that moment I thought to myself: who dares to oppose him? I was very scared."
