أُدخل السيناتور الديمقراطي الأمريكي كريس ميرفي إلى المستشفى، أمس، إثر تعرضه لسكتة دماغية، بحسب ما أعلن مكتبه اليوم الأحد، مؤكداً أن الأطباء متفائلون بشأن تعافيه.
وقال مكتب ميرفي، الذي يمثل ولاية كونيتيكت في مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي، إن السيناتور شعر بخدر في ذراعه أثناء حضوره مباراة هوكي لابنه، ما استدعى نقله إلى المستشفى، حيث شخّص الأطباء إصابته بسكتة دماغية، وفقاً لوكالة «بلومبرغ».
وأوضحت مديرة مكتبه أليسون هيرويت، في بيان، أن الأطباء يشعرون بالتفاؤل إزاء التقدم الذي يحرزه في حالته الصحية، مشيرةً إلى أنه مستيقظ وفي حالة وعي، وأن التوقعات تشير إلى إمكانية تعافيه بشكل كامل.
ويبلغ ميرفي 53 عاماً، ويمثل ولاية كونيتيكت في مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي منذ عام 2013، بعد أن أمضى ثلاث سنوات عضواً في مجلس النواب.
ويُعد أحد الأسماء المحتملة للمنافسة على الرئاسة الأمريكية في انتخابات 2028، كما أجرى خلال الأسابيع الأخيرة جولة في مناطق مختلفة من الولايات المتحدة لدعم مرشحي الحزب الديمقراطي في انتخابات التجديد النصفي.
American Democratic Senator Chris Murphy was hospitalized yesterday after suffering a stroke, according to his office's announcement today, Sunday, confirming that doctors are optimistic about his recovery.
Murphy's office, which represents Connecticut in the U.S. Senate, stated that the senator felt numbness in his arm while attending his son's hockey game, which necessitated his transfer to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with a stroke, according to Bloomberg.
His office director, Alison Herwitt, explained in a statement that doctors are feeling optimistic about the progress he is making in his health condition, noting that he is awake and alert, and that the prognosis indicates the possibility of a full recovery.
Murphy is 53 years old and has represented Connecticut in the U.S. Senate since 2013, after spending three years as a member of the House of Representatives.
He is considered one of the potential names for the competition in the 2028 U.S. presidential election, and in recent weeks, he has been touring various regions of the United States to support Democratic party candidates in the midterm elections.
