The Israeli occupation army forced around 250 families to evacuate their homes in the city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the Israeli forces imposed a strict siege by closing the entrances to the city and carried out a campaign of arrests that targeted dozens of Palestinians.
The Israeli forces forced families to evacuate their homes in the Farsh al-Hawa and Abu Aktila areas, allowing each family to carry only one bag of clothes and preventing them from taking their vehicles.
Other neighborhoods in Hebron witnessed forced evacuations, with Palestinian homes being turned into military barracks and Israeli flags raised over them.
Simultaneously, the Israeli forces conducted incursions into 26 locations across the occupied West Bank, including cities, towns, and refugee camps, amid extensive raids and arrest campaigns.
The Israeli army announced last night (Friday) the start of a large-scale military operation in the city of Hebron, with the participation of the General Security Service "Shabak" and border guards, expecting it to last several days.
Hebron's mayor, Yusuf al-Ja'bari, confirmed that the city is completely besieged by dozens of Israeli military vehicles. He stated that the Israeli forces are preventing entry to and exit from Hebron and its neighboring towns, noting that extensive demolition operations of homes and shops are being carried out using dozens of bulldozers.
This Israeli military operation follows an armed attack carried out by two Palestinians near Hebron, resulting in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and the injury of three others, while the attackers were killed by Israeli army fire following a gunfight that lasted about twenty minutes.
This coincides with escalating tensions in the West Bank, which regularly witnesses attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians. At least 1,113 Palestinians have been killed by soldiers or settlers since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas in 2023, according to data from the Palestinian Authority.
