كشفت وسائل إعلام روسية اليوم (الأحد)، تأجيل زيارة مرتقبة للمبعوثين الأمريكيين ستيف ويتكوف وجاريد كوشنر إلى موسكو، بعد أيام من توقعات بعودة الجهود الرامية لوقف الحرب في أوكرانيا.
ونقلت وكالة «تاس» الروسية عن مصدر قوله إنه من غير المرجح أن تتم الزيارة قبل نهاية أغسطس، مبيناً أن هناك أسباباً لتأجيلها.
ورفض المصدر كشف أسباب التأجيل وطبيعتها.
في المقابل، أكد وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرغي لافروف أن الرئيس فلاديمير بوتين مستعد للقاء مبعوثي الرئيس الأمريكي مجدداً، مشيراً إلى أن الأمر يتوقف على طبيعة المقترحات التي سيحملانها معهما.
ويأتي تأجيل الزيارة بينما تشهد المواجهة بين موسكو وكييف تصعيداً جديداً داخل الأراضي الروسية، مع استمرار الهجمات الأوكرانية بالطائرات المسيّرة على أهداف بعيدة عن خطوط الجبهة.
من جهة أخرى، أعلن الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي عقده لقاء بالسيناتوريين الأمريكيين ريتشارد بلومنتال وجيمس لانكفورد، وقال إنه أعرب لهما عن تقديره لعملية تعزيز الضغط على روسيا في غرفتي الكونغرس الأمريكي، معرباً عن أمله أن يتمكن في النهاية من تنفيذ مشروع قانون ليندسي غراهام بشأن العقوبات ضد روسيا وإيران.
وأشار إلى أنه أبلغ السيناتوريين بالقصف الروسي المستمر بالصواريخ الباليستية، مشدداً على أهمية مواجهة ذلك، وتنفيذ قرار منح التراخيص لإنتاج «باتريوت» يمكن أن يساعد بشكل كبير.
Russian media revealed today (Sunday) the postponement of a planned visit by American envoys Steve Biegun and Jared Kushner to Moscow, just days after expectations of a renewed effort to stop the war in Ukraine.
The Russian news agency "TASS" quoted a source as saying that it is unlikely the visit will take place before the end of August, indicating that there are reasons for the postponement.
The source refused to disclose the reasons and nature of the delay.
In contrast, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that President Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with the U.S. envoys again, noting that it depends on the nature of the proposals they will bring with them.
The postponement of the visit comes as the confrontation between Moscow and Kyiv is witnessing a new escalation within Russian territory, with continued Ukrainian drone attacks on targets far from the front lines.
On another note, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he held a meeting with U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and James Lankford, stating that he expressed to them his appreciation for the efforts to increase pressure on Russia in both chambers of the U.S. Congress, expressing hope that he would ultimately be able to implement Lindsey Graham's bill regarding sanctions against Russia and Iran.
He noted that he informed the senators about the ongoing Russian missile strikes, emphasizing the importance of addressing this issue, and that implementing the decision to grant licenses for the production of "Patriot" could significantly help.
