عادت باكستان مجدداً إلى محاولات إحياء المساعي الدبلوماسية من أجل التوصل إلى اتفاق بين إيران وأمريكا، إذ أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية أن قائد الجيش الباكستاني عاصم منير سيزور طهران.
وقال المتحدث باسمها إسماعيل بقائي في منشور على تيليغرام، اليوم (الأحد)، إن قائد الجيش الباكستاني يصل إلى طهران غداً (الإثنين) برفقة وفد رسمي، مشيراً إلى أنه سيجري لقاءات مع كبار المسؤولين الإيرانيين. ولفت إلى أن الزيارة تأتي في إطار جهود باكستان للمساعدة في تعزيز السلام والأمن في المنطقة.
وكشفت مصادر مطلعة أن قائد الجيش الباكستاني سيحمل رسائل أمريكية إلى الإيرانيين خلال زيارته، وأنه سيحاول كسر حالة الجمود واستئناف المفاوضات.
وكان وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي أجرى أمس (السبت) اتصالاً هاتفياً بمنير، من أجل بحث الشؤون الإقليمية، وفق ما أفادت الخارجية الإيرانية.
تتزامن الزيارة مع تصاعد التهديدات المتبادلة بين طهران وواشنطن، وسط تلويح الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بضغوط اقتصادية غير مسبوقة على طهران، وتوعّدت الأخيرة بالرد وعدم الرضوخ. وتأتي مع فشل الجانبين الأمريكي والإيراني في التوصل إلى اتفاق نهائي يعالج الملف النووي الإيراني فضلاً عن الخلافات الأشمل بينهما، على رأسها مضيق هرمز.
من جانبه، اعتبر أمين المجلس الأعلى للأمن القومي الإيراني محسن رضائي أن على الدبلوماسية الإيرانية تغيير سلوكها. وقال في مقابلة مع التلفزيون الرسمي بُثت مساء أمس (السبت): «بعد جولات عدة من المفاوضات وإخلال الأمريكيين بعهودهم، يجب إجراء إصلاحات في السلوك الدبلوماسي الإيراني مع العالم».
وأضاف: «ما بدأه ترمب تحت عنوان الحرب الاقتصادية هو عمل دعائي. ماذا يمكنه أن يفعل ولم يفعله من قبل؟ أما الحديث عن الحصار البحري، فهذا ليس أمراً جديداً»، زاعماً أن بلاده أرسلت خلال الشهرين الماضيين نحو 70 مليون برميل من النفط.
وكان الرئيس الإيراني دعا إلى حل دبلوماسي رغم استمرار بلاده في تبنّي نبرة التحدي. وقال قبل يومين: «سيكون من الأفضل إنهاء الحرب اليوم».
Pakistan has once again returned to attempts to revive diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement between Iran and the United States, as the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that the Pakistani army chief, Asim Munir, will visit Tehran.
The ministry's spokesperson, Ismail Baqai, stated in a post on Telegram today (Sunday) that the Pakistani army chief will arrive in Tehran tomorrow (Monday) accompanied by an official delegation, noting that he will hold meetings with senior Iranian officials. He pointed out that the visit comes as part of Pakistan's efforts to help promote peace and security in the region.
Informed sources revealed that the Pakistani army chief will carry American messages to the Iranians during his visit and that he will attempt to break the deadlock and resume negotiations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made a phone call to Munir yesterday (Saturday) to discuss regional affairs, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
The visit coincides with escalating mutual threats between Tehran and Washington, amid U.S. President Donald Trump's warning of unprecedented economic pressures on Tehran, with the latter vowing to respond and not yield. This comes as both the American and Iranian sides have failed to reach a final agreement addressing the Iranian nuclear file, in addition to broader disputes between them, primarily concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
For his part, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, stated that Iranian diplomacy needs to change its behavior. In an interview with state television broadcast last night (Saturday), he said: "After several rounds of negotiations and the Americans' breach of their promises, reforms must be made in Iranian diplomatic behavior with the world."
He added: "What Trump started under the title of economic war is a propaganda act. What can he do that he hasn't done before? As for the talk of a maritime blockade, this is nothing new," claiming that his country has sent about 70 million barrels of oil in the past two months.
The Iranian president has called for a diplomatic solution despite his country's continued adoption of a defiant tone. He said two days ago: "It would be better to end the war today."
