Iraqi sources revealed that the scale of corruption in the oil sector exceeds 35 billion dollars since 2011 to date. They confirmed that revenues from more than a third of Iraq's oil production since 2011 went to militias and parties, benefiting from revenues estimated at about 1.5 million barrels per day.

It was reported that the manipulation of the quantities of oil allocated for local consumption contributed to fueling fuel smuggling operations, while the price differences in gasoline turned into a source for theft operations.
