أكّد نائب الرئيس الأمريكي جي دي فانس (الأربعاء)، أن المفاوضات مع إيران تسير بشكل جيد، وأن بلاده ستمنحها الفرصة للنجاح، لافتاً إلى أن الولايات المتحدة حددت هدفها من المفاوضات، والنجاح يعتمد على الجانب الإيراني.
وقال فانس: «ألقينا قنابل على إيران بسبب إطلاقها النار على سفن، واستخدمنا أوراق ضغط لضمان المرور الآمن في مضيق هرمز»، مضيفاً: «إذا حاولت إيران إعادة بناء برنامج نووي وتهديد جيرانها ودعم الإرهاب فالرئيس ترمب لديه خيارات للتعامل معها».
وأشار إلى أن الرئيس ترمب لم يتخلَ عن هدف منع إيران من امتلاك سلاح نووي، موضحاً أن من يهاجمون التفاوض مع إيران الآن كانوا يشجعونه قبل الحرب.
وشدد بالقول: «قررنا التفاوض مع إيران ونحن في موقع قوة ولن نكرر أخطاءنا في أفغانستان».
بدوره، قال مسؤول أمريكي إن ستيف ويتكوف وجاريد كوشنر أجريا محادثات إيجابية للغاية مع قادة في المنطقة، مبيناً أن المحادثات الفنية في الدوحة لا تزال مستمرة مع إحراز تقدم جيد ومتواصل.
في المقابل، نقلت وكالة مهر عن نائب وزير الخارجية الإيراني غريب آبادي، أنه لم يُعقد أي اجتماع بين الوفد الإيراني والوفد الأمريكي في الدوحة.
وقال آبادي: «إن اجتماعات الوفد الإيراني في الدوحة عقدت فقط بصورة ثلاثية مع الوفدين القطري والباكستاني»، موضحاً أن اجتماعات الوفد الإيراني مع الوفدين القطري والباكستاني جاءت لمتابعة تنفيذ بنود مذكرة التفاهم، لا سيما لبنان والإفراج عن أصول إيران المجمدة.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance confirmed on Wednesday that negotiations with Iran are progressing well and that his country will give it the opportunity to succeed, noting that the United States has defined its goal for the negotiations, and success depends on the Iranian side.
Vance said, "We dropped bombs on Iran because it fired on ships, and we used leverage to ensure safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz," adding, "If Iran tries to rebuild its nuclear program and threaten its neighbors and support terrorism, President Trump has options to deal with it."
He pointed out that President Trump has not abandoned the goal of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, explaining that those who are attacking the negotiations with Iran now were encouraging him before the war.
He emphasized, saying, "We decided to negotiate with Iran while we are in a position of strength, and we will not repeat our mistakes in Afghanistan."
For his part, a U.S. official stated that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had very positive discussions with leaders in the region, indicating that technical talks in Doha are still ongoing with good and continuous progress.
In contrast, the Mehr news agency reported Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gharib Abadi as saying that no meeting had been held between the Iranian delegation and the U.S. delegation in Doha.
Abadi stated, "The meetings of the Iranian delegation in Doha were only held trilaterally with the Qatari and Pakistani delegations," explaining that the meetings of the Iranian delegation with the Qatari and Pakistani delegations were aimed at following up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, particularly regarding Lebanon and the release of Iran's frozen assets.
