أعلن رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، اليوم (الخميس)، إصداره تعليمات ببدء المفاوضات المباشرة مع لبنان في أقرب وقت ممكن.
وقال نتنياهو: «أصدرت تعليمات ببدء مفاوضات مباشرة مع لبنان في أقرب وقت ممكن»، مضيفاً: المفاوضات ستركز على نزع سلاح حزب الله وإرساء السلام بين إسرائيل ولبنان.
في الوقت ذاته، نقل موقع «إكسيوس» عن مسؤول إسرائيلي قوله أن سفير إسرائيل في إمريكا سيقود المفاوضات مع لبنان، فيما قال مسؤول أمريكي للموقع إن إعلان نتنياهو جاء بعد مكالمة مع ترمب.
بدوره، قال مسؤول كبير في الإدارة الأمريكية لشبكة «إن بي سي نيوز»، اليوم (الخميس)، إن الرئيس دونالد ترمب طلب من رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، خلال اتصال هاتفي، أمس (الأربعاء)، خفض وتيرة الضربات الإسرائيلية على لبنان للمساعدة في ضمان نجاح المفاوضات مع إيران.
وأشار المسؤول إلى أن تل أبيب وافقت على أن تكون شريكاً داعماً رغم تأكيد كل من إدارة ترمب وإسرائيل أن لبنان لا يشمله وقف إطلاق النار، مبيناً أن الاتصال جاء بعد تعهد نتنياهو علناً بمواصلة ضرب لبنان بقوة.
وأوضح المسؤول أن مسؤولين إيرانيين هددوا بالرد على الضربات وإنهاء وقف إطلاق النار.
في حين نقلت وكالة «رويترز» عن مسؤول لبناني قوله: ندعو لوقف مؤقت لإطلاق النار لإجراء مفاوضات مع إسرائيل.
وكان رئيس الوزراء اللبناني نواف سلام أعلن قرار بلاده تقديم شكوى إلى مجلس الأمن الدولي، عقب الغارات الإسرائيلية التي قتلت أكثر من 250 شخصاً، الأربعاء.
وقال نواف للصحافيين بعد اجتماع مجلس الوزراء في بيروت، إن الحكومة قررت التقدم بشكوى عاجلة إلى مجلس الأمن عن تصاعد الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية على لبنان، وتوسعها الأربعاء، لا سيما في العاصمة بيروت، مما أدى إلى وقوع عدد كبير من الضحايا المدنيين.
وتزامن ذلك مع تلقي رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف، اليوم (الخميس)، طلباً من رئيس الوزراء اللبناني نواف سلام بالتدخل لوقف الهجمات الإسرائيلية على بيروت.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today (Thursday) that he has issued instructions to begin direct negotiations with Lebanon as soon as possible.
Netanyahu stated, "I have instructed to start direct negotiations with Lebanon as soon as possible," adding that the negotiations will focus on disarming Hezbollah and establishing peace between Israel and Lebanon.
At the same time, the Axios website reported an Israeli official saying that Israel's ambassador to America will lead the negotiations with Lebanon, while an American official told the site that Netanyahu's announcement came after a call with Trump.
For his part, a senior U.S. administration official told NBC News today (Thursday) that President Donald Trump asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a phone call yesterday (Wednesday), to reduce the pace of Israeli strikes on Lebanon to help ensure the success of negotiations with Iran.
The official noted that Tel Aviv agreed to be a supportive partner, despite both the Trump administration and Israel confirming that Lebanon is not included in the ceasefire, indicating that the call came after Netanyahu publicly pledged to continue striking Lebanon forcefully.
The official explained that Iranian officials threatened to respond to the strikes and end the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, the Reuters agency quoted a Lebanese official as saying: "We call for a temporary ceasefire to conduct negotiations with Israel."
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced his country's decision to file a complaint with the United Nations Security Council following Israeli airstrikes that killed more than 250 people on Wednesday.
Nawaf told reporters after a cabinet meeting in Beirut that the government decided to urgently approach the Security Council regarding the escalation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, particularly in the capital Beirut, which resulted in a large number of civilian casualties.
This coincided with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif receiving a request today (Thursday) from Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to intervene to stop the Israeli attacks on Beirut.
