أفصح المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف أنه تواصل مع الإيرانيين.وقال في تصريحات صحفية «تواصلنا مع الإيرانيين بشأن مخاوفنا من القتل وعمليات الإعدام بحق المحتجين».
ونقلت صحيفة «يسرائيل هيوم»، اليوم (الجمعة)، عن ويتكوف قوله:
أنه تم توجيه رسالة مباشرة إلى إيران. وقال: «ترمب حذّر الإيرانيين.. وبتوجيهه تواصلنا معهم أمس، حول مخاوفنا من القتل وعمليات الإعدام الجماعية.. وقد توقّف ذلك». وأضاف، أن "ترمب وحده يمتلك القوة غير القابلة للطعن التي تُخضع الناس"، وفق تعبيره.
وعبر المبعوث الأمريكي عن أمله في حل دبلوماسي، لافتاً إلى أن هناك 4 ملفات تحتاج إلى حل وهي تخصيب اليورانيوم، برنامج الصواريخ، والوكلاء في الشرق الأوسط.
واعتبر أن إيران في وضع اقتصادي صعب، إذ لا توجد مياه لمدة 16 ساعة في اليوم، ولا كهرباء لمدة 12 ساعة في اليوم، والتضخم يتجاوز 50%. وقال: "إذا أرادوا العودة إلى الأسرة الدولية، فيمكن حل ذلك دبلوماسياً.. لأن البديل سيئ".
ووجّه رسالة مباشرة للمتظاهرين الإيرانيين قائلًا: "هؤلاء أناس شجعان بشكل استثنائي.. ونحن نقف إلى جانبهم".
وكان ترمب أعلن أمس أنه أبلغ بأن "عمليات القتل بحق المحتجين توقفت"، واصفاً الأمر بالجيد.
من جانبه، أكد وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي في مقابلة تلفزيونية مع شبكة "فوكس نيوز"، أنه لا إعدامات على الإطلاق ستنفذ بحق المتظاهرين.
وتصاعدت التوترات بين البلدين، إثر تهديد ترمب بالتدخل لحماية المحتجين، وردت طهران بأنها ستستهدف القواعد الأمريكية في المنطقة، فضلاً عن إسرائيل إذا تعرضت لهجوم عسكري.
وشهدت إيران منذ 28 ديسمبر الماضي موجة احتجاجات على الوضع الاقتصادي والمعيشي، تحولت في بعض المناطق إلى مطالب سياسية وشعارات ضد الحكم.
The American envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that he has communicated with the Iranians. He stated in press remarks, "We have reached out to the Iranians regarding our concerns about the killings and executions of protesters."
The newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported today (Friday) Witkoff's statement:
that a direct message was sent to Iran. He said, "Trump warned the Iranians... and under his direction, we communicated with them yesterday about our concerns regarding the killings and mass executions... and that has stopped." He added that "Trump alone possesses the unassailable power that subjugates people," as he put it.
The American envoy expressed hope for a diplomatic solution, noting that there are four issues that need to be resolved: uranium enrichment, the missile program, and proxies in the Middle East.
He considered that Iran is in a difficult economic situation, as there is no water for 16 hours a day, no electricity for 12 hours a day, and inflation exceeds 50%. He said, "If they want to return to the international community, this can be resolved diplomatically... because the alternative is bad."
He sent a direct message to the Iranian protesters, saying: "These are exceptionally brave people... and we stand by them."
Trump announced yesterday that he was informed that "the killings of protesters have stopped," describing it as a good thing.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed in a television interview with Fox News that there will be no executions at all carried out against the protesters.
Tensions between the two countries have escalated following Trump's threat to intervene to protect the protesters, to which Tehran responded that it would target American bases in the region, as well as Israel if it is subjected to a military attack.
Iran has witnessed a wave of protests since December 28 over the economic and living situation, which in some areas turned into political demands and slogans against the regime.
