وصف الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب عملية «عين الصقر» ضد تنظيم «داعش» الإرهابي، بأنها كانت «ناجحة جداً». وقال في كلمة ألقاها أمام مؤيّديه في ولاية كارولاينا الشمالية، اليوم (السبت): «لقد أصَبنا كل هدف بدقة مطلقة».
ضرب أكثر من 70 هدفاً
وأضاف ترمب أنه «حقق السلام في الشرق الأوسط، لدينا سلام في المنطقة لأول مرة منذ 3 آلاف عام». واعتبر الرئيس الأمريكي أن بلاده تعيد السلام إلى مناطق عدة حول العالم من خلال القوة.
وكان الرئيس الأمريكي أعلن أن العملية ضد داعش أتت رداً على استهداف قوات أمريكية في تدمر الأسبوع الماضي.
وأفاد الجيش الأمريكي بأنه ضرب أكثر من 70 هدفاً في أنحاء متفرقة وسط سورية، ليل الجمعة، بواسطة طائرات مقاتلة ومروحيات هجومية ومدفعية، مضيفاً أنه تم استخدام أكثر من 100 نوع ذخيرة موجهة بدقة ضد مواقع يسيطر عليها داعش.

العملية مستمرة عدة أسابيع
وشملت الضربات الواسعة التي نفذها التحالف الدولي ضد داعش، عشرات المواقع في وسط سورية، وطالت مناطق البادية، ودير الزور والرقة وحمص. وكشف مسؤولون أمريكيون بأن العملية ستستمر لأسابيع عدة وربما شهر. وشاركت القوات الجوية الأردنية في إسناد الضربات عبر طائرات مقاتلة دعماً للعملية ضد التنظيم.
وجاءت العملية انتقاماً لمقتل جنود أمريكيين السبت الماضي خلال عملية نفذها عنصر أمن سوري ينتمي إلى داعش، إذ قُتل جنديان أمريكيان ومترجم مدني، في مدينة تدمر وسط سورية، على يد مهاجم استهدف قافلة للقوات الأمريكية والسورية قبل أن يُقتل برصاص الجيش الأمريكي. وأُصيب 3 جنود أمريكيين آخرين في الهجوم.
لا ملاذات آمنة لداعش
من جانبها، أكدت وزارة الخارجية السورية في بيان، اليوم، أن الحكومة ملتزمة بمكافحة داعش وضمان عدم وجود ملاذات آمنة له في الأراضي السورية. وأكدت أن السلطات ستواصل تكثيف العمليات العسكرية ضد التنظيم في جميع المناطق التي يهددها.
وانضمت دمشق رسمياً إلى التحالف الدولي ضد داعش خلال زيارة الرئيس السوري أحمد الشرع إلى واشنطن الشهر الماضي.
وتنتشر القوات الأمريكية في سورية بشكل رئيسي في مناطق سيطرة المقاتلين الأكراد في شمال وشمال شرق البلاد، إضافة إلى قاعدة التنف قرب الحدود مع الأردن، حيث تركز واشنطن وجودها العسكري على مكافحة التنظيم ودعم حلفائها المحليين.
وأعلنت وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية «البنتاغون» في أبريل الماضي عن تخفيض عدد القوات الأمريكية في سورية إلى النصف، علماً بأن العدد الإجمالي الحالي للقوات غير معروف رسمياً.
U.S. President Donald Trump described the operation “Eagle Eye” against the terrorist organization “ISIS” as “very successful.” He stated in a speech delivered to his supporters in North Carolina today (Saturday): “We hit every target with absolute precision.”
Striking more than 70 targets
Trump added that he “achieved peace in the Middle East; we have peace in the region for the first time in 3,000 years.” The U.S. President considered that his country is restoring peace to several areas around the world through strength.
He announced that the operation against ISIS was in response to the targeting of American forces in Palmyra last week.
The U.S. military reported that it struck more than 70 targets in various locations across central Syria on Friday night, using fighter jets, attack helicopters, and artillery, adding that over 100 types of precision-guided munitions were used against ISIS-controlled sites.

The operation will continue for several weeks
The extensive strikes carried out by the international coalition against ISIS targeted dozens of sites in central Syria, affecting areas in the Badia, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Homs. U.S. officials revealed that the operation will continue for several weeks, possibly a month. The Jordanian Air Force participated in supporting the strikes with fighter jets in support of the operation against the organization.
The operation came in retaliation for the killing of American soldiers last Saturday during an operation carried out by a Syrian security element affiliated with ISIS, where two American soldiers and a civilian translator were killed in the city of Palmyra in central Syria by an attacker who targeted a convoy of American and Syrian forces before being shot dead by the U.S. military. Three other American soldiers were injured in the attack.
No safe havens for ISIS
For its part, the Syrian Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement today that the government is committed to combating ISIS and ensuring that there are no safe havens for it in Syrian territory. It affirmed that the authorities will continue to intensify military operations against the organization in all areas it threatens.
Damascus officially joined the international coalition against ISIS during Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara's visit to Washington last month.
U.S. forces are primarily deployed in Syria in areas controlled by Kurdish fighters in the north and northeast of the country, in addition to the Al-Tanf base near the border with Jordan, where Washington focuses its military presence on combating the organization and supporting its local allies.
The U.S. Department of Defense, the Pentagon, announced last April that it would reduce the number of American forces in Syria by half, noting that the current total number of forces is not officially known.
