The mediators handed Hamas a new proposal aimed at resuming indirect negotiations regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

According to informed sources, representatives from Egypt and Qatar conveyed the new initiative to Hamas, in the presence of leaders from several Palestinian factions. The sources reported that the faction leaders urged Hamas to prepare a response to the proposal within the coming hours.

Hamas had informed the mediators in the past few days of its readiness to accept the latest proposal put forth by the mediators without the amendments it had attached to it.

The movement and the leadership of the Egyptian intelligence service held a series of meetings in Cairo, and met with some factions to discuss advancing towards any agreement to thwart Israel's plans regarding the occupation of Gaza.

Cairo and Doha are making efforts to attempt to return to a temporary ceasefire deal for two months, during which 10 living Israelis would be released along with the handover of several bodies, with immediate negotiations for a broader deal to ensure an agreement on the day after the end of the war in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, families of the detainees continue to pressure the Israeli government to reach a comprehensive deal that returns everyone and ends the war, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to insist on not accepting any partial deals, affirming that he seeks a comprehensive deal on Israel's terms regarding the disarmament of Hamas and the Palestinian factions, and ensuring that Gaza does not pose a threat to Israel later. He insists on the release of all detainees at once, and that there should be an authority or entity governing the Gaza Strip that does not include Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.
