Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara renewed his affirmation of the unity of Syrian territories, pointing out that there are "parties that are relying on Israel and it is difficult to achieve their goals."
Al-Shara said in a dialogue session with dignitaries in Idlib province last night (Saturday): "Syria is facing a battle for unity, and it should not be through fighting." He accused some external parties of not wanting a strong Syria and trying to undermine its internal unity.
The Syrian president noted that "there are desires among some to divide Syria," but he affirmed that this is impossible. He emphasized that the state is committed to holding accountable those who commit violations in Sweida province. Al-Shara accused Israel of attempting to intervene directly in Sweida to weaken the state.
He pointed out that some practices of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the ground differ from what is happening in negotiations, saying, "There is a historical consensus between us and the Syrian Democratic Forces, and we are discussing the mechanism for implementation." Al-Shara stated that only a few months separate them from implementing the agreement with the SDF on the ground.
It is worth mentioning that the agreement signed between President Ahmad al-Shara and the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, on March 10 of last year, stipulated the integration of all civil and military institutions affiliated with the Kurdish self-administration in northeastern Syria into the framework of the Syrian state and its military institutions.
